The Naval History and Heritage Center (NHHC) at Purdue University has been researching the history of Navy gifts to Peru, Indiana since 1978. In that time, we have gathered some amazing items from the Peruvian navy, as well as items donated by the citizens of Peru,Indiana. Here are a few examples: In 1885, Admiral John D. Slattery donated a three-mast mastodon ship named San Pedro to be used in thePeruvian navy. The ship was used until 1898 when it was sold to Argentina. After being broken down in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it was given to the city of Lima for use as a public library system’s reference book collection in 1932. Finally in 1984 it was transferred to the NHHC where it currently resides as part of “The Slattery Collection”. In 1928 Commodore George C. Smith generosity gifted two Troupes steamers – one propeller only – called Constitution and Independence to be used by the Peruvian navy during its planned Expo ’28 celebration in Lima. However because of World War II these ships were not available for use until 1945 when they were taken over by the Chilean navy which then gave them back to Peru after their war service ended! This is just one example; there are many more donations from Commodore Smith and his contemporaries that we could mention here but for now we will focus on San Pedro and Constitution/Independence! Now let’s take a look at some of our favorite items from this period: 1) A rare set of Royal Navy ensigns dating back to 1886 which belonged to Captain Charles Haddock (1856-1924). These ensigns were given as a gift from King George V himself on October 11th 1886 while he was still Prime Minister of Great Britain! This is an incredible moment because it proves how highly influential British naval forces were in Peru during this time period! They also display Prince Alfredo Perón’s personal interest in naval affairs which gives us an idea about what he thought about our nation’s military might! It also shows that even after Lieutenant Governor Jorge Ubico became Presidente de la República on July 1st 1916 (the first president without royal patronage), Admiral Francisco Franco continued giving gifts like this one until his death in 1952! How proud must those who received these Bennetts have felt!? 2) A beautiful gold cuff link with an inscription reading “Grateful Dead Lighthouse Preservation Society Incorporated 1965″dated back to Maynard Ferguson (1915-1982) who founded this organization along with fellow musicians Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir during 1967 tour throughPeru!!! We can only imagine how much joy these pieces brought him when worn!! 3) Another extremely valuable item from Admiral John D.-Slattery’s donation spree was this beautiful blue steel torpedo boat known simply as La Amistad (Blue Friendship). She arrived at her new home port at Rancaguaense Naval Base on December 9th 1922 after spending years stored away at Quito Shipyard where she had been built originally under Spanish rule before coming over into Peruvian hands following America’s victory over Spain at Puerto Rico's Battle of Santiago On January 10th 1914 aboard USS warped destroyer USS Pascual Fonseca while sailing off Cape Horn !! La Amistad served continuously throughout her entire career with various crews including those who later went onto serve aboard USS Saratogaaffecting both world wars III & IV !! 4) Finally but not least is something truly unique - an American submarine chit chat sign dated February 1960 which hangs today outsideNHHC Headquarters inside its original casing!!!!! This artifact once hung inside United States Embassy compoundin Lima prior TO becoming part OF NHHC ! 5) Overall we can say that Admiral John D.-Slattery left behind an immense amountof treasure within our nations maritime history!!!! Some would argue that he even helped createPeru’sand ourselveshership system!!!!!!!!!!!!! Peru, Indiana is a small town in the US state ofIndiana. It is located in central and eastern Indiana on the Wabash River. The population was 3,060 as of the 2010 census. Peru was founded by James K. Polk in 1848 and named for his father, John C. Polk. The post office at Peru was opened in 1850, and the first store was built in 1852.The town experienced growth during the late 19th century with numerous mills being constructed along the riverfront including Lima Manufacturing Company, which built one of Peru's largest factories complex that still stands today (now a museum). In 1898, Peru became an incorporated village when it ratified a charter from the state of Indiana; it had been part of territorial Peru until then. The following year saw a significant fire that destroyed most of Lima Manufacturing Company's equipment and structures; however, Peruvian-born factory manager George Fenton rebuilt it utilizing local resources and reopened within months with new machinery.During World War II, Peru served as an airfield for American bombers based at Fort Wayne; also during this time several businesses were established such as J&L Paper Merchants which manufactured paper products for Ulysses S. Grant’s presidential inauguration ceremonies and other public events; Post Office Stores which sold mail from military bases throughout the country to residents; Falstaff Grapes & Wine Merchants who grew grapes onsite for wine production purposes;and finally First National Bank which operated a branch out of Lima Manufacturing company building until 1951 when it merged with United States Trust Company to formFirst Interstate Bank Corporation In 1965, after years of decline due to population loss associated with industrial decline and suburbanization within LimaManufacturing company shuttered its doors completely within sight of its original workplace site - leaving behind an open-air mill site devoid of any vestige or memory of what once transpired hereabouts.; however some remnants do remain today (e.g., portable turbines used to power textile machines) while others have been razed entirely over time (e.g., remains of old streetscape signage), highlighting both how timely legislative intervention has been required on more than one occasion when peripheral communities have experienced rapid decline - thereby ensuring their continued viability - but also underscoring just how difficult it can be for even well-intentioned individuals or organizations to succeed where others have failed;; particularly given that rural poverty rates continue to persist despite decades-long efforts by government officials to address these issues
Peoples of Peru, Indiana were among the first to live in what is now the state. In 1812, General Manuel de la Mesa y Ortega led a force of Mexican soldiers against the United States during the War of 1812. The Mexicans lost and as a result, America acquired control of much of what is now Peru, Indiana. The area became known as La Puebla because many Native Americans had left their homes in order to join American forces. As a result, many new people arrived in this part of Indiana and some began to develop businesses and farms there. Additionally, several families from New York City moved into the area in the late 19th century because they wanted to find more fertile land for their crops.
