The purpose of this paper is to discuss why and how gifts are given to members of the military during deployments. Gifts can be anything from flowers to candy bars. The first deployment of the USS John C Stennis (CVN 73) took place in 1959 when it transported troops to Peru. The ship's crew gave two soldiers on board a flowerpot as a gift and also donated three canned goods for the Peruvian people. It was not until 1970 that another USS John C Stennis (CVN 74) visited Peru and delivered 821 containers filled with food, clothing, books, toys and medicines to support Peruvian civilians during their war against Bolivia. Since then, every time an USS John C Stennis (CVN 73) deploys in support of our nation we send back a beautiful Thank You card!

Peru, Indiana is a small town in the western portion of the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census, down from 1,839 at the 2000 census. Peru is located in Vigo County and is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. The village has been populated by Native Americans for centuries and was first settled by European settlers in 1824. The name Peru comes from a mission founded there by Father José de la Concha y Osorio. The mission was abandoned after just three years and it wasn't until 1827 that a permanent settler named George Washington Robinson arrived with his family to begin developing what would become Peru. In 1830, General Harrison Purchase constructed Fort Dearborn on the east side of the river near what is now Lima Street in Peru and began garrisoning Indian allies who were fighting United States forces under Kit Carson during the American Civil War (1861-1865). The fort served as an important military post during both World Wars I (1914-1918) and II (1939-1945). Peru, Indiana history began with the first European settlers in what is now Peru, Indiana on November 1, 1694. The original group of pioneers was led by Captain Anthony De La Salle and consisted of thirteen men. They were looking for a new place to live and found a location that would be perfect for them: an open space called the "Promontory." The first residents of Peru, Indiana built their homes on the promontory and soon started terraforming the land. They did this because they wanted to create a better environment for themselves and their children. The people of Peru,Indiana also developed a strong economy based on agriculture and trade. Over time, the people of Peru,Indiana grew tired of living in an open-air settlement and decided to build some sort of shelter. They used different materials such as earth, bricks, wood and metal to build their first buildings. These early structures served as homes until 1818 when Congress passed the law that restricted building within one mile of any courthouse or bank! This prohibition made it difficult for the people of Peru,Indiana to start businesses or make money from their land. However, these challenges didn't stop the people from trying; they continued to terraform their land and build new homes until 1865 when Congress passed another law that allowedbuilding within one mile of any public school! This law helped settle many families who had been living in Perry Township since before it was organized as a township! In 1925, Congress passed legislation that allowed residents in Perry Township to vote Sears Roebuck & Co.'s store into business! This event helped give life to democracy in Peru Township! Andhra Pradesh state was formed from part of India on August 15th 1957 which made Peru Township even more popular because many Peruvians had connection with India through their motherland! A new shopping center opened up next door in 1978 which helped spur development in Lima Street which is now home to many restaurants and stores including Macy's Department Store
