Since the Revolutionary War, Marines have been deployed in support of American causes around the world. In Peru, they are known as "Marines de la Liberación" or "Lancers of Liberation." The Peruvian Marines were founded in 1810 by a group of Spanish marines who had fled to Lima after the Battle of Ayacucho. The marines fought in many battles during the 19th century, but their most significant victory was against British forces at Zorro's Bridge on December 8, 1821. Peruvian Marines played an important role in the War for Independence and helped liberate Peru from Spain. They also fought in various peacekeeping efforts until 1962. The Peruvian Marine Corps is now one of the few ground forces remaining in Latin America. Today, there are about 2,500 Marines active duty and 350 reservists located throughout Peru. The Marine Corps is responsible for providing law enforcement and security within the country; conducting international operations; providing training to local police officers; and providing humanitarian assistance.

Peru, Indiana is a small town in Putnam County, Indiana. The population was 1,690 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lima, Ohio metropolitan area. Peru is located on the southern edge of what was once Shawnee Township and now is Putnam County. Peru was founded by Spanish settlers in 1790 as a fur trading post on the upper Mississippian River. In 1823, Peru became an independent republic and in 1830 it joined the United States as a 3rd district of Michigan Territory. The settlement grew rapidly during the 1800s due to its strategic location midway between Cincinnati and Chicago on both sides of the Mississippi River. After Illinois dissolved into states in 1818 and Indiana became a state in 1820, Peru remained as an unincorporated community until it incorporated as a city in 1903 with 1,814 residents. The history of Peru began with two families who came overland from Spain to start a fur trading post near present-day Lima on December 12, 1790. They were Manuel Ponce de León (1746-1828), from Toledo; Jeronimo de la Costa y Valdivia (1768-1838), from Zaragoza; Pedro Sanchez y Cámpora (1774-1847), from Mérida; José Gomez de la Vega (1800-1873), from Mérida; Francisco Alonso de la Torre (1800-1881), from Concepción del Uruguay; Antonio Rubio Bermúdez(1796-1865)from Quito Ecuador and his brother Fernando Rubio Bermúdez(1800-) born in Quito Ecuador also started this fur trade post but moved back east when their fathers took up land grants near Lima for their family’s descendants to continue operations under new management including brothers Jorge Rubio Moreno(baptized Juan Miguel Silva) who oversaw Indian traders active along the way amassing large caches of furs that led to increased competition among European fur traders for control over these resources When Congress passed the Land Act of 1824 which gave American colonists access to Native American land east of Mexico City they set out to find suitable sites for settlements although much effort had been put into finding places where people could live without fear of being kidnapped or scalped by Indians during this time period many efforts failed because most potential sites were too flat or swampy for farming while others were too far away or have mountains either blocking access or protecting Indians so not many people moved forward with colonization In order to overcome these obstacles settler George Stephenson established an Post Office at Santiago de los Caballeros about two miles downstream from where Manuel Ponce De Leon’s Fur Trading Post sat giving settlers easily accessible contact with each other and goods available through local trader Steedman even offering passage home should someone wish to return after exploring areas beyond their initial territory . Upon arrival most Peruvian immigrants chose instead to stay because there was no provision for them within America apart from some scattered pockets here and there thanks largely to British support during this time period Although some did emigrate northward such as José Gomez de la Vega who traveled via England circuitous route starting near Toronto before reaching New York City where he met General James Wilkinson with instructions that he travel down river towards Veracruz thereby joining up with Captain Isaac Brock's expedition under Major John Stark which had landed at Vera Cruz earlier that year seeking supplies Settlers quickly realized that agriculture wasn’t going to be easy given lack elsewhere else around them especially since water scarcity was common throughout much North America during this time period so they turned their attention towards cattle ranching , miningitions occurred sporadically across India/Mexico border settlements yielding lead acid batteries etc providing employment along side mail service While several businesses prospered locally including one run by Gabriel García Márquez[1] who builta grocery store next door later becoming mayor first term dating back 1912–1920 A primary reason why Peru prospered despite difficult conditionswas its location sandwiched between two major railroads making it possible for entrepreneurs like García Márquez[2]and Gustavo Dominguez [3]to establish successful businesses catering primarilyto Peruvians living northwest of Lima By 1890 coalmining operations had become significant economic drivers further contributingressespecificallyduringmid19cenumberofminerswereworkingcoalnearLimawithsomelocationsprovidingmorethan50percentoftheoutputofthe mines Note: - Gabriel García Márquez died young leaving behind unpublished manuscripts - This article does not mention him

The population of Peru was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Peru was founded in 1824 by a group of fur traders from what is now Canada as a stop on their journey from Algonquin Park in Ontario to Santa Fe in New Mexico. The first permanent settler in Peru was James Wilkinson who arrived with his family in 1827. By 1830, Wilkinson had organized a company that began trading with Indian tribes along the lower St. Joseph River. The area around present day Peru became known as Indian Land for all its dealings with Native Americans beyond just trade. In 1836, John Ewing established an iron furnace near Lima which attracted attention from capitalists throughout America because it could produce high levels of rusticated iron without having to be heated over a charcoal hearth like other blast furnaces then popular at that time. After years of failed attempts due to lack of capital, Ewing finally succeeded in building his furnace using slave labor and opened it up for business on November 2nd, 1845. This event helped set off a period of rapid growth for Peru due not only to Ewing’s success but also thanks to new transportation methods such as rails which were brought overland from Illinois by wagon trainloads during this time period
Peru, Indiana was originally given to the United States by Peru on November 6, 1821 as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The land at present-day Peru, Indiana was first settled by the Potawatomi tribe in the 1840s. The United States acquired additional land from Peru in 1848 and 1860 under the Mexican-American War Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. In 1861, a post office was established at Peru and it remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1913. In 1896, a school district was organized at Peru. In 1907, a waterworks system was built at Peru and it remains operational today. In 1912, a road station was established at Peru and it remains active today.
