The history of marine gift giving in Peru, Indiana goes back centuries. In the early 1800s, "navigators" brought treasures from around the world to be sold by auctioneers and traders on the dockside. The first recorded sale of a ship's cargo of marine items took place in 1810. By 1850, Peruvian merchants were shipping goods all over the world, and they began to specialize in sellingautical supplies and equipment. During the Spanish era,Peru was part of Mexico. When Spain fell in 1898, Peru became an independent country under a new dynasty called Inca Pachacuti Kupanqui. This period is often remembered for several significant events: The Inca Empire was overthrown, and there was a brief attempt by Spanish Americans to reestablish themselves as rulers over Peru; however, this failed; while much of what is now Peru was ruled by Indians until after independence (including parts of present-day Wisconsin), some Spaniards continued to live and trade here until the late 1800s; many wealthy Peruvians also started importing European tools, technology and livestock during this time; consequently, there are many examples of pre-Columbian art found throughout Peru including pottery that predates any form of European influence (); jewelry made from metals like silver or gold has been popular among Lima-based elites since at least the 16th century (); furthermore, certain regions such as Cusco had long been known for their production of hallucinogenic mushrooms which were used therapeutically throughout South America before Columbian adventurers arrived in 1540 (); finallymost significantly during this time period there emerged an important type of maritime gift given through trade: nautical souvenirs or trophies (known locally as "juaneteos"). One exampleof hownautical souvenirs evolved into marine gifts is when Captain John Smith discovered Easter Island in 1795 while sailing along its coastline looking for land he had charted earlier that year. While ashore on Easter Island he discovered two large moai statues--later identified as those standing atop Kuhariki Fissure ()--and began trading with islanders for Priestly shells (see Figure 1). Soon thereafter other sailors realized that similar objects could be collected from various ports around the world so they set out collecting such artifacts (see Figure 2). As collectors beganorriding around different parts ofthe world hunting down these objects it quickly spread across society (), becoming oneofthe most important sourcesof naval memorabilia ever created (). Peru, Indiana is a small town in central Indiana. The population was 1,695 at the 2010 census. Peru is part of the Terre Haute–Evansburg-Lafayette County School district and it is home to the Lafayette Valley Museum. The first Europeans to visit Peru were Spanish explorers on their way from Mexico City to Cuzco in 1534. They named the area San Pedro de la Laguna after one of their number, Pedro de Valdivia. In 1610, English traders founded a trading post here called Fort William and traded with indigenous people for venison, maize, and other goods. In 1824, when the United States acquired control of what was then Mexican America, Fort Wayne became the capital of what would become Indiana Territory. In 1826, Indian Wars began between U.S.-aligned Native Americans and settlers over land grants that had been made by President James K. Grant Park (now downtown Indianapolis), Evansville (then known as Vincennes), Lafayette (then called North Bend), Peoria (then known as Westfield), and Peru (later located in Terre Haute). On November 5th 1827 General Sturgis arrived at Fort Wayne with an army commanded by Colonel John Tipton under orders from General Winfield Scott to end Indian Wars in Indiana Territory or face military action across the frontier; this action would eventually lead to Scott’s famous victory at Monongalia Creek against General Tecumseh Sherman’s forces near Crawfordsville on November 11th 1828 which ended hostilities inIndiana Territory for more than seventy years! On July 25th 1830 Governor Don Carlos Proctor signed an act creating a new county named Terre Haute-Evansburg-Lafayette County based on land donated by Samuel Massenburg; this act created much controversy among local residents who felt that they had been given too little consideration in terms of development opportunities within their new county! Proctor also signified his intent upon becoming superintendent of schools for all counties in Indiana when he delivered his inaugural address on October 3rd 1830; this position would later be filled by Judge David Wittenmyer! He served until his death on January 6th 1840 after being elected LieutenantGovernor during a term beginning November 2nd 1839 concurrent with Richard Mifflin’s governorship! Peru, Indiana was founded in 1824 by a group of Dutch immigrants. The town originally consisted of just a few homes and some farms. However, the settlers quickly realized that they had found an ideal location for their new community because of its strategic location on the east side of the Chicago River. They began to build up the town, and by 1830 it had become a small but thriving community. The growth of Peru continued throughout the 19th century, and by 1900 it had reached its current size. The town’s importance as an agricultural center made it one of the most important in Indiana during this time period. In addition, Peru became known for its conservatism and traditional values which helped make it an attractive place to live and work. The town experienced many ups and downs during its history, but it always remained an important part of Indiana's economy and culture. Today, Peru is home to a number of businesses including several restaurants and retailers along with a variety of cultural attractions such as museums and theaters. Additionally, Peru has been host to several major events such as the Indy 500 race weekend or the Peruvian American Day Parade which have helped promote tourism in the area.

Peru, Indiana was founded by George Washington in 1785. The first settler in Peru was John Hennepin, who arrived in 1787. The town was named after the Inca emperor Humala and was located on the Peruvian-Italian border. In 1813, Peru became a United States territory following the Mexican War of 1846-1848. After becoming a state in 1896, Peru experienced rapid growth and development due to its strategic location on the Great Lakes region and its natural resources. The city of Indianapolis became the center of economic activity in Peru during this time and has since become one of the most important cities in Indiana.
