They arrived in country on July 3rd 1970 and quickly became known as one of America’s most successful military campaigns ever. For four months they fought off waves of enemy troops until finally withdrawing on September 9th after suffering heavy casualties along the way. Munster, Indiana is a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana. Munster was founded in 1827 by German immigrants and became a center for agricultural production and commerce. The population of Munster peaked at around 10,000 in 1920, but has declined since then. Today, Munster is a shrinking community with only about 1,500 residents. Munster was first settled by Germans in the late 18th century as part of the Palatinate region of Germany. In 1827, some Germans living in nearby Lawrence Township formed a company to purchase land near present-day Munster and begin developing it into a town. The company name was changed to the "Munster Land Company" two years later and started selling lots to settlers. The town began growing slowly but steadily from its initial population of just six families in 1830 to over 100 by 1840 thanks to increasing agriculture and trade opportunities brought about by new transportation technologies such as trains and canal boats. In 1850, when Munster's first post office opened, it had just under 200 residents; by 1860, it had reached 600 people and grew even more following annexation of neighboring towns during the mid-19th century including Lawrence Township (now Terre Haute). During most of its growth as a commercial center due to its location on the southern border of Indiana between Illinois and Kentucky River Valley country – one of the most developed regions in America at that time – Munster experienced few major changes other than occasional renovations or additions to its buildings related to expanding mercantile operations or expansions into new markets (e.g., Iowa). Some infrastructure developments during this time include: completion in 1888 of what are now known as Main Street (later renamed US 31) northward from downtown; addition in 1907 of what are now called Wilson Avenue east from downtown; construction beginning 1909 along US 31/Wilson Avenue twinned with Douglass Street west from downtown Streetsboro), which helped increase traffic flow through Town Center while also providing essential supplies such as water hoses for streetlights necessary for efficient business operation; opening on October 14, 1922 – three days after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor –of what would be known today as Ford’s Theatre Complex which would become one OF THE FIRST GAS STREETLIGHTS IN AMERICA
