Mooresville is a small city in the U.S. state of Indiana, located on the convergence of two rivers, the Wabash and the White River. The population was 11,544 at the 2010 census. In addition, Mooresville has been home to various military installations over the years including Fort Knox (1846-1912), Camp Meade (1863-1965) and current Fort Story (1998-present).
In 1792, Thomas Mooresville was the first person to settler in the area that is now Mooresville. He and his family built a cabin on a hill overlooking the Monongahela River. The first school in Mooresville was built in 1814. In 1827, a mill was built and became one of the most important businesses in the town. The town grew rapidly after it post office was established in 1830. By 1840, there were more than 100 people living in Mooresville. The town had two churches by 1850 and six stores by 1860. In 1865, the Post Office closed and Mooresville became an agricultural center with many small farms dotting its landscape.
