First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka is one of central Indiana's most prominent landmarks with its Gothic Revival style architecture dating back to 1865 when it replaced an earlier structure that had been destroyed by fire. The church features striking stained glass windows throughout its interior including a window dedicated to St. John Bosco which overlooks College Road between Main Street and Third Avenue; this window Abbott helped design while he was pastor at First United Methodist Church of nearby Indianapolis from 1875-1900 .
