Logansport, Indiana is a small town located in the Logansport-Kokomo area of central Indiana. The population was 5,752 at the 2010 census. The town began as a cattle and orchard town and rapidly became an agricultural center due to its location on the Black River. In 1875, Logansport was chosen as the site for the first IUPUI (Indiana University Pulaski) campus. Today, IUPUI is one of America's largest universities with campuses in Bloomington, Indianapolis and Evansville. The first coffee beans were grown in Logansport in 1875 by John Saucier and his family. At this time, coffee beans were still acquired fromArabian Trading Company shipments from Egypt and Arabia. By 1886, coffee beans had been grown on the Kokomo farmstead by Augustus Capps and Elijah Stout. In 1907, JB Hardy started importing ground coffee from Brazil under the name "Jolly Bean". Coffee production increased significantly during World War II when neighboring towns formed military bases to support war efforts such as Kokomo's Stroud Army Airfield which housed 350 aircraft including P-47s and B-24s used for strategic bombing raids against Japan; these operations resulted in greatly increased demand for coffee beans which led to a rise in prices throughout much of 1945/46. After World War II ended there was significant growth in local sustainable farming while continuing international trade brought about increasing prices for world coffees throughout the 1970s until they peaked around 1979 when interest rates plummeted bringing about a decline in demand that has continued through today's market conditions Although there has been some growth back into production over recent years it remains very low relative to world prices so that total acreage planted with Arabica beans remains below 1% of all bean acreage despite this investment

The town gradually lost its importance as a transportation hub because of railroad construction to nearby cities. However, it continued to be occupied by residents until 1953 when it became part of Muncie Municipal District.
