Logansport, Indiana is a small city located in Logansport County, Indiana, United States. The population was 992 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Logansport-Kokomo, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Logansport was John Ladd who arrived in 1795. He and his family built a log cabin on the banks of the River Raisin near present day downtown. The Ladds were followed by other pioneer families such as the Potters and Harts and others until there were only a few hundred residents living in Logansport when it incorporated as a city on November 3, 1871. The growth ofLogansport occurred during the late 1800s through much of this century due to numerous businesses that sprang up throughout town due to its strategic location bordering three major rivers: Big Creek (northwest),the Raisin (southwest), and Whitefish Creek (south). Today many local businesses still operate thanks to their strong alliances with each other - including several restaurants which have been together since before City Hall even opened its doors! During World War II, Logansport played an important role in supplying food for soldiers stationed throughout Europe. The city's paper mills turned out tens of thousands of pounds of paper daily for use by military commanders and their troops. In addition to its huge printing capacity,Logansport also produced dozens of radios/telephones/telegraph poles/wiring equipment etc., which continued to be used long after they stopped being manufactured! In recent years,Logansport has experienced significant expansion both inward and outward; new buildings have been erected along West Main Street Comprehensive Plan streetscape redevelopment has commenced on East MainStreet across from the current City Hall property project; large new multi-family dwellings are presently under construction adjacent to Railroad Park just south of I-465; and more than $10 million worth of private investments are currently underway or pending within blocks surrounding downtown core including Interstate 465 & US 24 Business Loop development adjacent to Downtown Mall parking garage & Ballpark
