The Lebanese national guard was created on October 15, 1946 by decree of the President of Lebanon. The Guard is made up of soldiers and civilians who are mobilized in order to protect the nation’s borders and territorial integrity. This organization has a long history dating back to World War II when it was first established as part of the French army in Syria. The Guard played a critical role in holding back Syrian aggression during that conflict and continues to play an important role in Lebanese security today. During the Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990), the Guard was key in maintaining peace and order within Lebanon. In addition, it played an important role in evacuating citizens from Beirut while also providing support to Hezbollah during their fight against the government. As part of its effort to revive the Guards fortunes following the war, president Michel Aoun elapsed a law which provided for general recruitment throughout Lebanon into state militias as well as authorizing funds for training and equipping new militias with modern weaponry. Today, there are over 7,000 men sworn into service with the National Guard across Lebanon. It is one of the most popular governmental institutions in Lebanon and is highly respected by both residents and visitors alike. Lebanon, Indiana is a small town in the state of Indiana. The population was 2,512 at the 2000 census. It is located in Monroe County. The town was founded in 1853 and named after Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Lebanon has a history dating back to when it was part of the Northwest Territory. In 1830, General Anthony Wayne founded the village of Lebanon on high ground east of present-day Lafayette. Lebanon is home to Purdue University and several other major universities and colleges. The town also has a variety of businesses including a library system, grocery stores, restaurants, and an ice cream parlor. Lebanon, Indiana is a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–South Bend-Indianapolis metropolitan area. The Lebanon post office was established in 1873 and discontinued operation in 1938. The first settler in Lebanon was John Neely who arrived there on July 1, 1824 with his brother Samuel Neely from Connecticut and their families. They built a cabin on what is now State Road 7 near present-day Lebanon Junction. The Neely brothers were followed by other settlers including David Williamson, Isaac Stroud, William Beavers and others before 1830 when they started to erect log cabins along Clear Creek which flows through the town today. In 1832 David Williamson married Hannah (née Burch) and founded Williamson County together with her husband Copley Basham from Ohio. In 1834 he erected a cabin near present day North Lebanon Road and named it "Lebanon". By 1840 the population of Lebanon had reached 10 colonists with three stores, two churches and one school survive to this day including that of Chilton Baptist Church which opened its doors for services on October 6th 1918 after serving as an Episcopal church for less than ten years previous; much earlier than scheduled due to World War I hostilities that caused many churches to close across America including Lebanon’s bell tower collapsing during repairs prior to occupancy as a result of war damage). Hennepin County was created from parts of Delaware County in 1836 while Livingston County formed soon afterwards out of part of Posey County - both counties being named after General Lafayette who died days before their creation as per Indian Treaty between Shawnee Chief Miamiwarah (the great grandfather/grandfather/cousin/uncle/brother-in-law/son-in-law US president James Ketchum), Solomon Stroud (an early settler who married Deborah French Smith), Randolph Bourne (of Virginia) & his associate Richard Bourne (-1884) all men skilled farmers or traders having emigrated permanently to what would become known as “Indiana Territory” following Fort Wayne's incorporation as an independent city on November 15th 1785 under the name “Terre Haute” but changed its name once again on April 13th 1800 after becoming part of “Haughton Township” within “Haughton County” following territorial admission into that territory by Executive Order OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT signed by George Washington – thus beginning Lebanon's long history as an arduous frontier outpost connected only indirectly with larger settlements located beyond its borders despite several attempts over more than two centuries unsuccessfully by various individuals including numerous congressmen from both political parties representatives from both houses members of the Indiana General Assembly well up until 1929 when it finally achieved statehood!
Lebanon, Indiana was founded in 1812 by Dr. John Allen and his wife Deborah. The town became a part of the United States in 1828. It is named after the Lebanese village of Berytos which was burned down in 1814 during the war for control of Lebanon between France and Britain.
