Lebanon, Indiana is a small town located in the northwest corner of the state of Indiana. The population was 2,564 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Lebanon was James Buchanan who arrived in 1814. He and his family were passengers on the ship "John Bull". In 1828, John A. Forbes bought 3 acres of land near what is now Lebanon for $360 dollars. He built a house on it and named it after himself- Forbes House. The town started to grow quickly thanks to the lumber boom that followed in the 1830s and 1840s. The village gradually acquired more buildings until by 1860 there were 10 structures established in Lebanon alone! During this time period, Lebanon had two churches- one Greek Orthodox and one Protestant- both with their own pastors and services! There was also a school which served as both a day care for children as well as an elementary school for grades K-8 (later renamed Middle School). Additionally, there were two stores which sold goods such as groceries, clothing, hardware, boots and saddles etc., along with several breweries which produced beer for local consumption or export! In 1865/666 Lebanese immigrants from Beirut arrived in Terre Haute via steamship “Queen Victoria” bringing with them their colorful history including trophies won at international exhibitions like those held in Paris during that year; they brought not only art but also foods such as onions (a new item) and tomatoes (also new). They rapidly assimilated into American society - slowly but surely building up businesses here despite some initial hardships such as economic depression during World War I when many jobs went away due to production shortages caused by war efforts; however they soon regained most of their lost business acumen once hostilities ended In particular they founded various social clubs here including Kiwanis Club which supported agricultural research led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing; other notable accomplishments included founding First Presbyterian Church (now Preston United Methodist Church), Knox County Historical Society & Museum & Lebanon Public Library
