Isaac Lincoln was born in 1809 in what is now Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He worked his way up through the ranks of agriculture as a farmer and planter, eventually becoming president of his own plantation. In 1851, he founded the Isaac Lincoln Cotton Gin and Distillery in Lawrenceburg with only $8 worth of seed money. The gin quickly became successful, producing quality cotton products that helped make Lawrence a leading local city. Lincoln stayed active in the town until his death in 1924. His legacy can be seen today at the Isaac Lincoln Cotton Gin and Distillery Museum which reopened its doors in 1978 after being closed for many years.
