The United States Air Force has a long history of giving airforce gifts. The USAF began gifting Gifts in March 1947, when President Harry S Truman signed the National Security Act of 1947. The act created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). At that time, the USAF was portions of the Department of War and Defense. The first gift was an experimental Boeing B-29 bomber aircraft to be used by the USAAF as a training aid. In 1951, the USAF gifted 2 McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom jets to South Korea for their military aviation program. In 1973, the USAF gifted 3 Lockheed L-1011 StarLiners to Chile for their use in air policing operations. In 1984, 6 McDonnell Douglas DC-9s were given to Spain for their air transport needs during Operation Tebaldi II. In 1990, 1 Sikorsky HH-60G Sea Hawk helicopter was donated to Turkey as part ofOperation Northern Cyprus. That year also saw the donation of an Hughes H-3B Huey helicopters from USAFE Incorporated to Egyptian Air Force under Operation Anfal I; this marks the first time an American military helicopter had been given directly to another country as part of a peacekeeping operation. In early 2002, after many years of planning and deliberation, it was announced that United States Air Forces Europe would construct a new headquarters at RAF Mildenhall in Suffolkshire England with its own hangar and associated facilities which would house both American and European fighter jets along with other support vehicles such as barracks and living quarters for officers and staff members..... This project is known officially as American Expeditionary Forces Europe (AEF) HQ UK which will bring more than 8500 jobs including 3000 civilian employees on site initially until 2020...... After more than two years worth construction work commenced on 5 November 2002 AEF HQ UK became operational..... One aspect which has caused some controversy is that many gift items bought by America's allies have been stored at RAF Mildenhall while home soil's fighter ace Museum & Aviation Archive continue to hold items belonging to America's enemies....... However, since September 2014 all gifts originally donated or received by America's allies have now been repatriated back into their original country

The USAF's 1st Bombardment Wing is headquartered at nearby Wright-Patterson AFB and provides strategic bombardment services to the nation. Lake Station is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,849 at the 2010 census. The community is located on the banks of the White River. The first settler in this area was John Pope who arrived in 1787. He built a cabin and called it "Pope's Landing." Other early settlers were James Crouse, William Hays, George Beers and others. By 1821, there were only 9 residents living in what is now Lake Station. The first post office was established at Pope's Landing on November 12, 1821. It was named for John Pope who donated the land to the government. In 1827, Samuel Fenton erected a grist mill on the current site of the Post Office which became an important part of local commerce. In 1841, he enlarged and moved his mill to its present location next to the White River where it continued operating until 1967 when it burned down. In 1865–1867, two Mormon pioneers journeyed from Nauvoo Ill., Illinois overland to Council Grove (now Iowa City), Iowa during what is known as The Great Mormon Migration. They stopped at Lake Station before continuing their journey eastward across Nebraska Territory into Utah Territory where they founded Salt Lake City (then spelled Salt Lake City). A post office called "Lake Station" was established at this location on October 2, 1870; it was discontinued December 14th of that year due to lack of customers despite being open three days per week (). A new post office opened at nearby Peru in 1893 but closed within one year due to economic reasons. In 1907-1908 a sawmill operated by JF Brown & Sons located just southwest of town also produced lumber for local use including some boarding houses which still stand today near Highway 24 west of town line. In 1915-16 a drive-in movie theater opened with 35mm film stock inside an old grain elevator The last movie theater open in this area shut down February 15th 2006 after more than 50 years operate

Lake Station is a small town in Pike County, Indiana, United States. The town was founded in 1827 by John and Eliza Pemberton. It was named for the station on the current route of the Erie Canal. Lake Station was originally located on the east side of the canal, but it moved to its present site in 1881. The Pemberton home still stands as a museum and is open to the public.
Lake Station was founded by the Potawatomi Indians in 1811. The first white settlers arrived in 1814, and by 1827, the town had a population of 100 people. In 1846, the community was renamed to Bloomington after Indiana's capital city, Bloomington. The post office was established at Lake Station in 1850. By 1870, Bloomington had a population of 1,500 people and became an incorporated city. In 1898, Bloomington merged with neighboring town of Terre Haute to form the current city of Indianapolis.
