After his death in 1905, his widow took over management of Ladd's Grove until her death in 1916. In 1918, John Cramer bought part of Ladd's Grove and renamed it "Cramer's Landing". He founded Kenedy County Airport here in 1932 which became one of the largest airport complexes in Indiana Kendallville was incorporated as a village on December 12th, 1909 by order of President William McKinley following passage of an act entitled "An Act to Change The Name Of Certain Villages And Towns In The State Of Indiana" (). On January 1st 1930 , after years of discussion with residents through referendum vote & ordinance change (amendment #2), Kendallville became Orchard Township when all other villages within Kenedy County were merged into it- making it one municipality with nine wards including downtown- becoming one countywide with 3 municipalities under its jurisdiction: Orchard Township (), Hendricks Township (), and Harrison Township ().
