Kendallville, Indiana is a small town in Hendricks County, Indiana. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Peoria, IL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kendallville was founded in 1836 by John and Martha Kendall as a trading post on the Bluff Road. The Kendall family continued to operate the post until it closed in 1864. In 1865, John Kendall and his wife donated land to build what became Kendallville High School. The first students were enrolled in 1870. Today, Kendallville High School continues to serve as the central campus for all education within Hendricks County. The town originally consisted of just a few homes and businesses around the newly constructed high school building. By 1920, there were over 200 residents living in Kendallville proper and surrounding areas including New Albany and Romeoville. During World War II, local businesses manufactured munitions for the war effort. After hostilities ended in 1945, many of these businesses closed but some continue to do business today such as Meyers Dairy which produces hay and other agricultural products for feedstock production; Gorman's Hardware which sells hardware; Mrs.'s Bakery which provides goods such as pies and pastries;and Trampling Grounds Golf Course which opened in 1951 features 9 holes that are still played today by locals and visitors alike

Kendallville is a town in Muscatine County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. The Kendallville post office was established in 1836 and discontinued in 1959. The first settler in Kendallville was James Cramer, who arrived in 1836. He built a log cabin on the site of present day town hall. In 1840, he and his family moved to the current location of the courthouse and founded the Cramers farmstead. In 1846, Isaac Brockman settled in Kendallville and built a house on what is now Main Street. In 1850, John Fenton arrived in Kendallville and bought land from Brockman. He developed this land into an agricultural district that included parts of Muscatine County Today's Kendallville rests on these early foundations. In 1861, Methodist Episcopal minister George Winton organized a congregation at what is now First Baptist Church with eight families as members. This congregation would grow to over 100 members by 1870 when it erected its first church building on land donated by Abramson & Klinefelter . Reverend Winton served as pastor for many years until his death in 1921.. In 1922-1923, local businessmen Harry Fensterwald (1889-1966) and Marshall Hirschfeld (1893-1970) formed a company called American Can Company to produce aluminum cans for sales throughout the Midwest..Fensterwald served as president from 1923 until his death; Hirschfeld held office until his retirement two years later In 1948-1949, residents of nearby Mishawaka voted to form their own village which they did so under the name of "Kendallville." On July 1st of that year they elected Mayor Willis Sweeny (1892-1974). Mayor Sweeny led KendallVILLE through some difficult times during the late 1950s when temperatures were rising rapidly across much of America due to President Eisenhower's Interstate Highway Program . After being elected mayor four more times between 1951 and 1974 he retired effective December 31st 1975 following a long career with local government services including sixteen years as superintendent of schools . As mayor he had been instrumental in developing many aspects of today's town such as roads and sewer systems ; which are still avaiable today thanks to His successor David Ivey
