In 1925, Angelo's son Bernardo founded Bernardo's Coffee Company, which became one of the largest European-owned coffee companies in America.Bernardo's Coffee Company operated out of various locations throughout Indiana until it relocated its headquarters to Kendallville in 1971. From 1971-2005, Bernardo's Coffee Company was headquartered at 101 S 4th St., which is currently home to 'The Eternal Empire' espresso shop & cafe. During this time, Bernardo's Coffee company produced some of America's most popular brands such as Montero Estate Latte (now part of Starbucks), Cappuccino (partnered with Nestle), Ethiopia Bura Koffee (now part of Peet’s) and Roasted Blend (now owned by Dunkin’ Donuts). In 2005, Bernardo's passed away at the age of ninety-six after being involved with coffee for over fifty years.

In 1924, Kendallville joined the larger Terre Haute metropolitan area. Kendallville has experienced significant growth over its years as a community; however, much of that growth has come from Interstate 69 which bisects this small town near its eastern border with Brownsburg (the county seat). I-69 has made Kendallville one of the more vibrant communities within St. Joseph County as well as providing easy access to major cities such as Indianapolis and Chicago. Today, Kendallville is known for its wide variety of cultural attractions including its annual corn festival which draws attention to local agriculture and agricultural produce; its art festivals which often include large-scale exhibits reminiscent of Americana during late summer or fall; as well as its festive Christmas season Celebration events that attract many locals from all over Indiana and surrounding states who come to spend time together in downtown Kendalville during early November before heading back home for their winter shutdowns at various businesses across Harrison County.
