In fact, one of their most popular products was amarine clock known as the Old Clipper's Clock. This particular clock faced many challenges over its years of production; however, it continued to be sold by Joe & Son until 1949. One of the earliest marine gifts ever given in Jeffersonville was an anchor from Captain John Griffiths of HMS "Thalia". The anchor was given as a gift to Mrs. A.F.] Cook in 1904 when she purchased land at Saginaw Bay for her new home. Mrs Cook had been instrumental in helping support both local fishermen and naval missions during World War I by providing income for various charities. When she donated her land to the town in 1924-25, it became an anchorage for boats used by local seamen as well as supplies for ships docking at Saginaw Bay. It wasn't until after World War II that things really took off with marine gifts in Jeffersonville. In 1946-47, Mayor W[illiam] B[ythe] announced that he would like to erect a public display case on Main Street honoring all who have made significant contributions to our community through their work within or outside of maritime endeavors over the years - from captains and crews who battled against pirates to entrepreneurs who pioneered new technologies within our industry! The celebration began on December 1st and ran through February 4th each year throughout those seasons! That first season saw Giving Sunday being celebrated every other week beginning on November 25th! Over time, Gifting Sunday has become one of our favorite holidays - thank you mayorship for making it possible!
