Jeffersonville, Indiana is a small town located in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lafayette, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1818 by two brothers, James and John Jefferson. The first store in Jeffersonville was built on the corner of High Street and Old State Road. The store was operated by Reuben Beecham for many years. In 1830, the store moved to its current location on North College Avenue. The Beechams sold their business to Elijah Wilkinson in 1855. William Silliman became headmaster of Jeffersonville School District No. 2 in 1865 and organized it into a school district with his own office and staff. He also endowed the Silliman Scholarship fund which has been used for scholarships at Jeffersonville High School since 1912. In 1922, Henry Ibbotson opened a grocery store on South Main Street which continued to be open until it closed in 1985 when it merged with Kroger Incorporated to form what is now known as Kroger Co., Incorporate (Kroger). In 1984, Jeffco Land & Investment Company purchased an interest in KrogerCo., Incorporate (Kroger) from United States Trust Company (USTC) for $5 million cash plus options to purchase up to an additional 50% of KROGER's shares within five years subject to public offering at $25 per share or less per share over that period; UTC owned all Class A common stock of KrogerCo., Incorporate (Krogar).

Jeffersonville is a small town in central Indiana, United States. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kosciusko County. The name Jeffersonville is derived from James K. Polk and his wife Lady Bird Johnson's hometown of Jefferson City, Missouri. The first permanent settler in Jeffersonville was Levi Coffin on November 7, 1827. He and his family were the first to establish a home in what would become Kosciusko County. In 1832, John Fenton platted and named the town after James K. Polk as part of a survey for that area which he did with Wm Henshaw and other local pioneers who had come toIndiana during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). In 1852, when Kosciusko County was organized, Jeffersonville became its seat. It remained so until 1959 when it became Kosciusko County's territorial capital city following incorporation by that name into the new county; however, it continued to be its seat until 1978 when it was moved to Anderson Township in neighboring Defiance Township due to growing population density within that township alone (). According to the 2010 census, there are 1,812 people living in Jeffersonville proper (including 431 residents of Anderson Township), 388 residents ofDefiance Township (which includes all of Kosciusko County), and 2 citizens residing elsewhere in Kosciusko County (). The total population density is . There are also 422 housing units (), including 134 with three or more bedrooms () and 248 without any bedrooms ().
