The Jasper, Indiana National Guard is one of the United States' oldest and most venerated military organizations. The unit was founded on December 6, 1851, during the American Civil War as a volunteer militia to protect the citizens of Jasper County. In 1865, the National Guard was re-organized into a permanent force and began serving in local defense against Native Americans. The Jasper National Guard was organized on November 15, 1907. The organization was expanded on May 1, 1918 when the Indiana National Guard was reorganized. On October 15, 1924, the Jasper National Guard became part of the United States Army and was redesignated as the 4th Armored Infantry Battalion. The battalion served in World War II and then returned to civilian life in 1949. It reverted back to military status on September 26, 1958 when it became an infantry battalion again and continued to serve until its disbandment in 1992.
Jasper, Indiana is a small town in West Michigan. It is home to the Jasper-Lansing Community School District and is also the location of the Jasper Speedway. The town is named after General James K. Jasper who fought in the American Civil War and was later buried there. The first post office in Jasper was established on October 3, 1873. The population of Jasper increased from 1,000 in 1950 to over 10,000 by 2000. The community has been known for its agricultural products for years and currently processes more than 6 million pounds of Agricultural Grade Feedstock each year according to local legend. In 1951, Edwin Ladd opened one of the first grocery stores in what is now known as downtown Jasper. He started out selling groceries door-to-door and soon became well known within the community for his selection of high quality foods at affordable prices. Today, Edwin's descendants continue to operate their store under various names including "Eddie's", "The Gulls" or simply "Edwin's". The first public school in Jasper was built in 1892 and served students from kindergarten through 8th grade. A new school was built on land donated by Mrs. Hilda Schieffer in 1954 which remains used today as part of grades 9-12 classroomsDistrict #3A In 1976, Mayor Jerald Crouch sponsored a referendum that approved annexation by Lansing Township into the city of Detroit due to concerns about water availability within the boundary lines between both municipalities . After much discussion and public hearings it was decided that annexation would not be consummated because continued growth within Gibson County necessitated more education facilities with appropriate transportation available for residents . Today, there are three schools operated by District #3A: One elementary (grades PreK - 5), one middle (6 - 8) and one high school (9 - 12) with plans to build a fourth school onsite that will serve grades 13 - 16 starting fall 2019 . Development services are available for all three schools which include bike sharing programs, along with full gymnasiums/lockers/ showers/ concierge service

Jasper, Indiana, is an unincorporated community in Kosciusko County, Indiana. It was a post office from 1868 to 1901. Jasper was named after the Jasper River. The town developed around the Fort Dearborn military reservation east of present-day Jasper and the surrounding country. The fort was built in 1833 by General Josiah Harmar as part of his defense of what is now Evansville against British forces under Sir John Custer. The fort served as a base for Indian scouts and artillerymen during the American Civil War. After Harmar's death, the fort became a military prison until it closed in 1865. The community developed around the fort, which remained active until it burned down in 1902. The destroyed fort has been turned into a park that today offers visitors access to its cannons and other artifacts from the period.
Jasper was founded in 1818 by James White and his wife, Hannah. The town was named for the Jasper County seat of Reidsville, Kentucky. Jasper became a county seat in 1836. It lost its county seat status in 1903 but regained it in 1926.
