The coffee industry in Jasper, Indiana began with a group of farmers in the early 1800s. The first coffee beans were grown on the farmstead of James and Nancy Riggs. In 1825, John Hargrave started a small mill in Jasper that processed coffee for local merchants. By 1830, there were six coffee mills in Jasper and one thousand acres of bean plants. In 1836, two brothers named Isaiah and Amos Dixon purchased a small farming plantation east of town. They set out to create the best-quality coffee in the area by growing their own beans andprocessing them themselves. The Dixons became well-known for their fine quality coffee and exported it to Europe. Over time, other families became involved in the coffee business including Arthur Ashe, who founded an insurance company in 1888; Isaac Prentice (1868-1935), who was president of Purdue University from 1923 to 1935; and Harry Sperling (1920-2001), director of Indianapolis' Balboa Park Museum from 1984 to 2001. After World War II, when demand for natural resources increased all over the world, the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Industry went through a big growth spurt. More people started working in agriculture than ever before due to technological advancements such as tractor drives and fertilizers that made cultivation more mechanized. This led to lower prices for beans which helped increase sales throughout America and Europe alike. Coffee became an important part of European culture, and was used as currency, status symbols, and medicinal remedies. In the 18th century, Dutch traders began bringing coffee back to Holland from Indonesia. This new discovery led to a period of growth for coffee exports and helped make Dutch colonialism one of the most powerful empires in the world. In 1795, a French man named Nicolas-Jacques Conte founded La Casa del Coffee in Philadelphia. This was the first commercial house that marketed ground coffee as a beverage instead of just textual information about it on labels. By 1800, over 200 different coffees had been sold at La Casa Del Coffee alone! In 1875, Germany began exporting beans to France under the name Grupo Espresso de America (Espresso America Group). This company became one of the leading producers and distributors of high-quality Colombian vanilla beans worldwide. Today’s Colombian bean production takes place mainly in Brazil but some also grow in Colombia

Jasper, Indiana is a small town in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,851 at the 2010 census. Jasper was founded by pioneer settlers in 1814 and named for Jasper County, Maryland, where its first post office was established that year. The community grew rapidly during the late 19th century as Methodists arrived to preach their gospel and build churches and schools. By 1900, there were over 100 residents in the town of about 4,000 people. In 1912, Jasper became an independent city with a charter from the Indiana General Assembly. It experienced rapid growth through World War I until it lost its municipal status in 1922 due to prohibition laws passed by then-Governor John A. Mackey of Indiana. During Prohibition years (1920-1932), Jasper had one of the most active local economies in America with smuggling operations taking place all around town including into neighboring Michigan and Illinois which still remains an open secret today to this day! After repeal of prohibition in 1933, Jasper experienced significant decline as many men left for better opportunities elsewhere during these difficult times; however, it bounced back quickly after becoming an official city once again in 1938 under Mayor Robert Welshman and continued to grow through post-World War II boom times until reaching its current size by 1980 when tax rates began rising significantly due to changes brought about by yet another recession that struck America hard that year! Jasper's rich history can be traced back to 1814 when pioneers traveled from Maryland via Ohio on boats called "Lincoln" seeking new land mass east of Kentucky on what is now known as the Mississippi River watershed area; they found nothing suitable but named their new settlement for themselves: Jasper County after then-president James Kappan's home county – specifically because no other counties bore his name within reach at that time! In 1815/1816 mapmaker Jonathan Edwards created what are now easternmost quadrants of present-day metropolitan Indianapolis within present day Hendricks County; he did so based upon aerial surveys made between 1796 and 1800 which had shown Iroquois villages near Mexico City extending well beyond our contemporary Bendigo Township boundaries! These early surveyors likely included two brothers – George Washington Kittridge (1772 – 1840) & John Lewis Kittridge (1775 –1847) who operated a surveying company out of Georgetown Court House located just south of downtown Indianapolis while their father served as justice of peace for Hendricks County from 1792 until his death four years later! With this knowledge base comes later confusion over whether or not we actually lay claim to any part or entiretyof today's Hendricks County although much has been revealed thanks largely to efforts like those aforementioned surveyed throughout both centuries!! From here on things proceeded relatively smoothly as Indian removal activity intensified along both sides of the river starting with Major David Thompson’s Expedition led by General Andrew Jackson across central Indiana beginning on July 8th 1812 which resulted in more than 50 Delaware Indians dead; this event would come to be known as “The Battle Of The Little Big Horn” eventually leading directly to Treaty # Minnesota #6 being signed at Fort Dearborn July 6th 1823 resulting in forced removal & eventual cession by Great Plains Sioux Nation also comprising parts or entiretyof today’s Jennings & Miami Counties eastward into Canada!!! It should be noted here that most historians believe US traders rather than military personnel were primarily responsible for Native American deaths resultant from this action ultimately leading President James Kappan form issuing orders authorizing such indiscriminate slaughter!! The city experienced significant growth during the late 19th century, thanks in part to heavy investment in infrastructure projects such as a new waterworks system and the construction of several major retail buildings. However, by World War I Jasper's economy had begun to decline due to competition from larger cities in the region. During World War II Jasper saw increased military activity due to the proximity of nearbyIndiana Naval Base, which contributed to a rise in crime rates. However, despite this issue the city managed to remain relatively safe until 1971 when it was impacted by a devastating fire that destroyed much of downtown
