They served milk and coffee from a small truck on the front steps of their home. The store grew and relocated to its current location in 1957. The store was run by Don and Harry's children until 1992 when they sold it to Bob Goudreau. Goudreau operated the store for seventeen years before selling it to his son-in-law, Rick Majerus, in 2002. Majerus ran the store for three more years before closing it in 2006. Since 2006, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has been open at 265 S Main St., making it the only full-service coffee shop in town. The shop is operated by Majerus' grandchildren, Scott Majerus and Jenna Majerus; their father Rick Jr.; and Bob's widow Linda Majerus (Bob Sr.'s daughter).

Huntington was founded in 1814 by General David Dixon and the original town site was located on the side of a hill that is now known as Dixon Road. The first settler in Huntington, John H. House, arrived in 1815. By 1840, there were over fifty families living in Huntington. The Town of Huntington was chartered on July 1, 1846 by act of the Indiana General Assembly. The town became a part of Indianapolis when it was organized as an independent city on November 3, 1847. On January 1, 1861, Indianapolis merged with all other cities to form the new Indiana Territory and as such, Huntington lost its status as an independent city and became part of the larger town area. From 1862-1865, Huntington served as the capital of the newly created state of Indiana during its time as a territorial government. During this time period, many important events took place at Huntington including the signing of the Treaty Of Paris which ended World War I and ratified United States Constitution; construction began on what is now known as Old State Capitol building; and completion of Hoover Dam which provided irrigation water for muchneeded crops in southern Indiana and northern Illinois
