The process of roasting coffee is unique, and requires a careful attention to detail in order to produce the best results. The first step in the roasting process is to heat up water and oil simultaneously until the oils are hot. Then, using a burr grinder, ground the beans into small pieces over low heat until they form a very fine texture. Next, Place these small pieces of beans into an airtight container and let them cool completely before continuing with the rest of the steps in the roasting process. Once all of the ingredients have been used and cooled, it's time to start roasting. First, place an oven rack on the center shelf of your oven and preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. then pour about 2 cups of water onto a baking sheet that has been prepared with parchment paper or silicone baking mats (if using nonstick cooking spray). Spread out this mixture so that it covers all of your beans but does not overlap too much (this will help prevent them from getting burned). Bake for about 30 minutes or until they reach an amber color. Remove from oven and let cool for another 5-10 minutes before serving hot
The Hammond Coffee Company was founded in 1892 by George Davenport and his brother, John. The company became a major player in the coffee industry in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1915, Hammond began producing its own roasted coffee beans. The company continued to produce quality coffee until it closed its doors in 1954.
Hammond is a small town in northwestern Indiana, United States. The population was 5,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Wayne–Muncie metropolitan area. Hammond is "the heart of the Midwest" and its economy revolves around manufacturing and agriculture. Hammond's location on the Wabash River makes it an important transportation center for both rural areas to access goods and industries in nearby cities such as Mishawaka and Fort Wayne. The first permanent settler in Hammond was Abraham Hammond who arrived in 1836. He built a log cabin on the banks of the Wabash River. On November 2, 1837, he married Sarah Atherton. The first child born to Abraham and Sarah was a daughter named Harriet Blyden (1838-1914). Harriet later became Mrs. George Crouse (1868-1945) who served as First Lady of Indiana from 1925 until her death in 1945. In 1840, James Fenton purchased land adjacent to what is now called Fenton Road which lay between present day Hammond Road and White Sands Creek east of where I-465 currently exists today. This land would become home to many businesses that sprang up during the early days of Hammond including: Grist Mill (founded by Amos Newton), Ford House No 1 (built 1861), Maple Leaf Brewery (founded 1865), Jugend Haus School( founded 1875), Saugerties Paper Mills(Founded 1889) & McKnight’s Meat Market(Founded 1895). The community that grew up around this time included several churches such as First Baptist Church which served as their pastor from 1841-1845; Methodist Episcopal Church from 1850-1856; Presbyterian Church from 1860-1863; American Baptist Churches from 1865-1920; German Evangelical Lutheran Church from 1924 until it merged with other denominations in 1966; Stated Unionist Congregationalist Church which served as their pastors starting in 1915 until they disbanded in 1946; finally, Indian Baptist Churches which functioned until 1971 when they were replaced by Pentecostal/Charismatic churches within Pentecostal/ Charismatic groups formed under pentecostal umbrella organization International church growth movement or ICG throughout America began serving communities across UPNI region beginning with Ft Wayne IN 1959 followed by Hammond IN 1970 being lead by Dr David Ellerbee

It was named for General David Hammond, a hero of the American Revolution and one of the first military officers in the area. The population of Hammond during its early years was only about 100 people. By 1870, however, Hammond had become a thriving community with over 1,000 residents. The town's growth continued through the years and by 1920 it had reached 2,500 residents. During World War II, Hammond served as an important node in the production chain for munitions in the region. After the war, Hammond experienced rapid growth and by 1960 it had reached 4,000 residents. Today, Hammond remains a vibrant community with strong cultural ties to its surrounding communities.
