Griffith is a town in Ia-Konnichiwa Township, Johnson County, Indiana. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Griffith were Frenchmen in 1779. The first permanent settlers in Griffith were Andrew and wife Mary who arrived in 1825. They had six children: John (baptized December 12th, 1826), Mollie (February 3rd, 1830), Andrew Jr., James (May 2nd, 1832), Sarah Jane (January 25th, 1835) and Anna Maria (November 6th, 1840). 1st Presbyterian Church was built in Griffith on September 16th, 1830 by Rev. David Caldwell and dedicated on February 7th of that year. Reverend Caldwell served as pastor from 1830-1839 then again from 1850-1859 before his death on November 4th of that year at the age of 70 years old. In 1865 an act of Congress designated the town site for what is now Evansville after a survey conducted by John Saucier and others under the direction of Major General Oliver Hazard Perry during the American Civil War caused great protest by several small towns located within Johnson County including Grifith which claimed all or most of what is now Evansville including their church sites and stores. On May 5TH 1860 a large crowd assembled at Jonesboro over 200 people many who had traveled considerable distance to see their local favorite Mayor John Saucier deliver a speech denouncing any efforts to give away their land without compensation or render it useless as some proposed! After much discussion this plan was abandoned but not before causing much anger among those living within Grifith who felt they had been wronged once again! The town site eventually became home to both the First Presbyterian Church and today's Hendricksons Methodist Episcopal Church which are still standing despite being mentioned multiple times in history books for being burned down!!

Griffith is a city in and the county seat of Posey County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2010 census, its population was 47,817. The Griffiths were pioneers who settled the area in 1814. Griffith is named after General Andrew Jackson Griffiths, a U.S. Army officer who served in Mexico during the Mexican-American War and as Governor of Florida before becoming a general in the Union army during the American Civil War. The first Europeans to visit Griffith were French colonists in 1671 and Dutch traders in 1675. A post office called Poseyville was established at present day Griffith on November 1, 1818, by order of territorial governor James Kappworth. The original town site was near what is now downtown Poseyville and included lands east of today's Main Street between State Road 476 (now Business Loop I-465) and State Road 805 (now Old US-411). In 1827, when Posey County was created from parts of LaPorte and Perry counties, it included part of what is now Griffith. In 1830–31, Jeptha Fenton built an adobe home which became one of the earliest structures in town; he also erected a small frame store on Fourth Street between Main and Academy Streets. By 1840 there were seven stores open withintown limits; two miles (3 km) north lay Indian territory claimed by France under cession from Spain following the Battle of Palo Alto on October 22, 1846 – this land later became part of Indianapolis with Grifiths Farms being located just beyond Frenchtown to the south along Greenwood Avenue.) Election results for federal officers elected that year showed that Andrew Jackson had been elected president but no state offices had yet been filled because Ohio Territory still contained parts of Indiana: development began soon afterwards when land clearing began for Grifiths Farms Race Course outside town limits on current Northwest Expressway at this point effectively making Griffith part of Indianapolis! It wasn't until May 3rd 1860 - less than three weeks before his inauguration - that Harrison Beal arrived with military forces as commander-in-chief to begin Reconstruction efforts in America's Deep South following emancipation proclamation issued January 6th 1861 by President Abraham Lincoln! By 1870 there were 20 stores open withintown limits; six miles (10 km) northeast lay Frenchtown where many settlers had come looking for their new home since Griffths Ferry had opened up 640 acres (248 ha) upstream from present day Poseyville Creek rafting spot giving access both downstream to Pigeon Creek below Frenchmanstown proper thence via Little Pigeon Run into IUPUI reservoir then across good old navigation channel Isisland Prairie then downslope into creek bottom about four miles long making possible transportation difficulties over Isisland Prairie without damage or loss! Griffith experienced rapid growth due largely to suburban settlement around its core businesses: retail concentration followed industrial growth starting with grist mills producing flour for local markets until automobiles made car manufacture practical; auto production ended early 21st century with remaining facilities closed except one restored engine shop currently used as an arts center/gallery
