At that time, the town was located in Terre Haute County, Indiana and roasting beans were delivered by wagon from central Illinois. The early coffeehouses in Greensburg served local citizens until the early 1800s when a new post office was built and services began to be provided by mail. In 1892, Augustus H. Ladd founded the Galesburg Coffee Company and soon became one of the most successful small businesses in Greenstown Township. In 1923, Ladd's son-in-law Harold Dillard took over as president of Galesburg Coffee Company after his father's death. After more than fifty years of operation, Galesburg Coffee Company merged with two other companies in 1985 to form the present day Abbott & Costello Coffee company.
Greenburg is a town in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first post office in Greenburg was established on July 24, 1827. The present post office building was built in 1909 and dedicated by Mrs. A.L. Dickinson. Greenwood Academy (now Greenburg Junior-Senior High School) started as a 1-room school in 1870 and became one of the largest high schools in central Indiana when it opened its doors to students from all over Tippecanoe County. In 1960, Greenwood Academy merged with nearby Decatur High School to form what is now Decatur Central High School; Greenwood disbanded in 1972 due to budget cuts and lack of enrollment at the high school after more than 125 years of educational excellence at that location! In 1908, Ironton Minerals Company purchased land east of town for $10 per acre and developed what became known as Ironton Mines which continues today as the oldest mining company in central Indiana with operations extending back over 250 years! Today’s mines include two processing plants that turn crushed coal into coke and other products used by businesses throughout centralIndiana including production of engines for Grand National Racecars! Greenburg also contains some beautiful countryside located just outside the limits of town along U.S.-Route 40A approximately 12 miles south east of downtown Indianapolis on State Road 52 about 8 miles west of Interstate 65 / US-40A / SR-522 / Indianapolis Convention Center
