The Fort Wayne Air Force Deployed Gift History Museum is a nonprofit institution that preserves and Enjoys the history of the air force deployed gift industry. The museum was founded in 1992 by Col. Jeff Ziegler, USAF (Ret.) with the mission to promote appreciation for U.S. military gifts and services to civilians and serve as a haven for collectors of this interesting subset of American culture. The museum has three storefront locations in Fort Wayne, Indiana: The Pentagon Annex at 5th Avenue Northwest and Northwest Third Street; Chamberlayne Place on Michigan Avenue near I-235; and The George Washington Annex located at 7th & Delaware Streets across from the city’s library system. Additionally, there are several display cases throughout the fort where visitors can explore individual items from this period in American history. One of the most popular aspects of visiting the museum is exploring its collection of military gift products dating back to World War II through present day! This includes everything from weaponry to furniture to home decorations! It’s truly amazing how much has been collected over time! Plus, many unique pieces have never before been seen or displayed outside of Fort Wayne!

It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Fort Wayne were French traders and missionaries in 1692-93. The area that now makes up Fort Wayne was inhabited by Potawatomi people until 1802 when they ceded their land to the United States for inclusion in the Louisiana Purchase from France. In 1824, General Hull's Brigade composed of 6th Infantry Regiment under Major General Daniel Wells fought at the Battle of Peoria against Tecumseh's forces led by Chief Shaw as part of Gen. David Blackford's cavalry brigade under Brigadier General James Sturgis; also present were 1st Cavalry Regiment commanded by Captain John Davenport, 2nd Dragoons commanded by Colonel David Hackett, 10th Light Infantry Regiment commanded by Captain Nathaniel Lyon and 12th Infantry Regiment commanded by Lieutenant Colonel George Hennepin; Tecumseh was defeated and his forces driven back across the river into Illinois Territory where they finally surrendered on July 6, 1825 at Clintonville after a three day siege which ended with no loss on either side: Tecumseh had earlier threatened Cincinnati with destruction if he did not submit This battle has been historically commemorated annually as Veterans Day since it occurred and still remains one of America's most famous military engagements Aftermath Treaty resulted in $5 million transfer from US treasury to Shawnee Nation Tribal government The first post office opened at Fort Wayne on December 3, 1830 with Wm Silliman Postmaster general On November 15, 1840 there arrived Captained Ebenezer Sprague who had just landed from steamboat "Cincinnati" captained by Commodore John Rodgers at Mobile Bay Alabama during Indian Wars . He took immediate command of Post Office garrisoned about 20 men including 5 officers . Sprague ordered erection of a two story brick building known as “Sprague” which served as our first public house until replaced about 1906 In 1841 construction began on new fortification called “Fort Dearborn” adjacent to current downtown; this fortification served as our primary defense against northward movement of Native Americans through what is now downtown Fort Wayne
