The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History in Fishers, Indiana began with the creation of Camp Pendleton in 1941. The Marine Corps had been stationed at Fort Bliss since 1906, and by 1941, it had grown to over 12,000 Marines. The War Department needed an easily accessible site for training troops, so Camp Pendleton was designated as the primary Marine Training Station for California and Nevada. In 1949, Camp Pendleton became a Naval Base and the Marines were transferred from Fort Bliss to Naval Station San Diego. However, the Marines kept their tradition of giving back to the community by providing free food and toys to children in local schools. In 1957, Camp Pendleton became one of three Marine Barracks located on land donated by Mrs. Lillie Pohlke (founder of Pohlke’s Chinese Theatre). This allowed the Marine Corps to provide more than just military training; it also served as a summer home for civilians who worked at Naval Station San Diego. In 1970-71, Camp Pendleton became Joint Base Andrews when Defense Secretary Harold Brown transferred Commandant General Lewis Biddle from Okinawa to Washington D.C., effective 1 October 1971. With this change in command came new opportunities for gifts given by Marines during deployments overseas and domestically; these included entertainment projects such as car shows or "Mardi Gras" parties that took place at various locations around Washington D.C.. From 1972 until 1984, gifts were collected through a system known as "The Joke Bag." This program was started because many Marines felt that they could not give enough back to their hometowns during their deployments abroad or domestically due to financial restrictions imposed upon them by Headquartersmarine Forces Pacific (HFMFP). Gifts given through The Joke Bag totaled over $2 million throughout its duration! On 20 November 1984 Ulysses S Grant received his first deployment gift from Captain Tom Ballantine III while he was serving as Commander Task Force 95th Calvary Scout Battalion aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 75) off Japanese coast; this gift represented an update on the traditional Christmas present tradition which began with John F Kennedy's receiving his First Navy Cross during World War II! thereafter every 3 years USS Enterprise would carry out Operation White Sands Missile Range Cruise Missile Demonstration tasking her with live fire testing of SM-3 Block 5 cruise missiles against mock targets within Red Flag Arsenal located approximately 25 miles north west of El Centro California! From 1 January 1987 until 15 December 1988 all combat duty ended when USS Enterprise sailed into port again after completing her 2nd tour operating off Japan's coast! On 8 February 1989 she left Japan's coastline again conducting another live missile launch exercise called Maple Leaf 10 resulting in damage being done to a simulated target inside Red Flag Arsenal! Since 1945 there have been 426 deployments broadcast via video camera across America!!!

Fishers is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana, and the seat of Fisher County. The population was 19,898 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern bank of the Wabash River adjacent to Chicago, Illinois. The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Fishers were French traders looking for new trade routes in 1812. They named their village after Jean-Baptiste de la Salle, who had explored this area from 1785 to 1789. The first permanent settler arrived in 1827 when Thomas Fenton built a cabin on the banks of the Wabash River. It was soon followed by others, until by 1840 there were over 50 settlers living in Fishers. In 1851, James Ritchie erected a log courthouse and jail which still stands today within walking distance of both downtown Fishers and Ritchie Elementary School (now Ritchie Middle School). In 1862, John Smeaton started an oil refinery south of town on Railroad Street which became one ofIndiana's largest oil refineries until it closed its doors in 1975. Today you can find remnants of this structure all around town including bottles and cans dating back to that era! Fishers' history goes beyond its namesake river town however; many businesses and organizations have been founded here including: American Legion Post #51984 (the only post outside Chicago), United Way - Fishers Chapter (which has served since 1955), Bridgwater Lutheran Church (founded 1912), First Baptist Church (1892), Stroudsburg Area Hospital/Stroudsburg Rehabilitation Center (opened 1966), and more!

Fishers is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–Kosciusko Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fishers was founded in 1825 by Nicholas Fisher and his family. The name "Fisher" comes from Nicholas's father, John Fisher. Fischer's first post office opened in 1828 and closed in 1893. The current post office was established on July 1, 1902. Richard WASHINGTON served as the first Postmaster until his death on July 20th, 1907. The town of Fishers was platted on December 12th, 1825 by Nicholas & Mary (Dixon) Fisher with James Fenton as Surveyor for the Township #1b of Kosciusko County which included present day Fischertown and also much of what is now Monroe Township including present day Live Oak Grove Park & Woods which are still owned byNicholas' descendants today
