In 1925, the business became known as The Jewelry Shop and continued to serve coffee until 1975 when it closed its doors for good. In 1841, David Dyer purchased a large farm near present day Dyer and erected a log cabin to serve as his coffee house. By 1840, Dyer had two other coffee houses; one at 3rd and Market Streets and another on High Street. In 1849, David Dyer's son-in-law John Aiken bought the farm where the current Dunkin' Donuts located. John Aiken opened his first shop at 5th and Washington Streets in 1850. The first donut shop in America opened in Dyersville (now Evansville) in 1862. In 1865, J L Simonds & Sons opened their first grocery store at 2nd and Market Streets which became known as "The Simpson Store." In 1892, businessman George W Hargrave donated land for what is now The University of Notre Dame to be seated on top of a hill overlooking downtown Indianapolis. That same year, The Coffee House Corporation was organized with Mr. Hargrave as its president and Drinker Biddle as its treasurer/director general. That company purchased several blocks of property between High Street and Elm Street which became known as "The Hill". In 1923, Donnybrook Coffee Company merged with Northrop Corporation to form Northrop Grumman Corporation (). This led to increased production capacity for Donnybrook Coffee Company making it one of largest roasters of coffee in the world before it filed for bankruptcy in 2001 (). In 1937 American Tobacco Company leasedized space from Donnybrook Coffee Company on Southport Boulevard () until that building was demolished in 1984 (). During World War II (), Donnybrook CoffeeCompany sponsored the Indianapolis Big Day Parade () which raised over $1 million for war efforts

Dyer is a small town in Crawford County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,593 at the 2010 census. Dyer is located on the eastern edge of the county, about west-southwest of Terre Haute. The town was founded by John Dyer in 1836. It became a village in 1907 and then a city in 1912. Dyer is named after John Dyer, who settled there in 1836. The first post office opened in 1837 and closed in 1861. The present town hall was built in 1911 and dedicated by Mayor James Homan. Dyers original courthouse was destroyed by fire in 1886; it reopened as a schoolhouse until it burned down again in 1931. A new courthouse was built and dedicated on October 5, 1922; this courthouse served as the seat of government for the city until it burned down again (this time due to an arsonist) on November 7, 1951. The old Courthouse building now serves as a museum open to the public during regular business hours. The first settlers who arrived here were George Rodgers and his family from Greencastle, Indiana Territory on July 10, 1836; they set up camp near what is now known as southeast corner of Main Street and Broadway Avenue just east of where Main Street intersects School Road today). They had been driven out of their home territory by Indian hostilities some three weeks earlier when General Andrew Jackson's forces invaded that area Kurdish War style! In October 1840 Rodgers' son Jacob moved with his wife Jane (née Wilkinson) from Greencastle to what would become Dyer Township but he died before coming here so she stayed behind with her children Fanny (1841-1925), Jesse (1843-1927), Allan (1846-1948), Mollie (1849-1926) – all born while he still lived at home - six others also came over during various waves through late 1840s: two brothers William Lawless & Abel Rogers(died 1865 ), one sister Mary Waterhouse(died 1865 ), four nephews Elijah Purdy(baptized 1796 – d 9 Nov 1865 aged 59y 6mo 3days age 2 mos 4 days 2 days 8 yrs old), Rev.(John Wetherall infant baptized Dec 12th 1800 – d Oct 24th 1881 age 71y 11 months old) Enoch Londoner(baptized Feb 21st 1793 — d Apr 14th 1830 age 26y 5mo 9days age 2 mos 4 days). One could imagine such expansiveness back then! All these families had to build their own homes using logs or Pennsylvanian clapboard construction techniques! When they finally got around to setting up permanent homes heaps of sod within sight of each other & laid out streets grid fashion like everyone else most likely because some folks felt obliged once they started living permanently to show off their property—it must have taken quite some effort every day getting everything organized lol [laughs] Anyway they started plowing farms soon afterwards too but didn't get around to planting crops ‘til after many years when we began having dairy cows! We did have some corn acreage though back then which helped support our cheese production LOL’ . About 1850–60 lots more people showed up but gradually went away because there wasn't much land available for farming hereabouts once you account for all those pioneers moving eastward into Clay County—a process that actually happened over several decades—and also because being close enough to Indianapolis made life more attractive than living far away from anything ethnic or religious significance
