The Marine Corps has been present in the Dyer community since 1810. Soldiers and marines have fought for our country in many wars, some more recent than others. The Marines who serve today are a proud tradition, but their history goes back much further. In 1810, Captain Andrew J. Dyer organized and led a company of volunteers to help fight against the British in what is now Indiana. The Marines were quickly recognized as an effective fighting force and quickly became known as "Dyers Men." They served with distinction during the War of 1812, helping to turn the tide of that conflict. After the war, Dyer's Marines formedthe 1st Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry on October 17th, 1814 at Fort Dearborn in Chicago. This regiment was mustered into service under the command of Major General Henry Dearborn on November 5th,1814 at Milwaukee. The regiment was assigned to duty at Vicksburg until May 12th,1815 when it proceeded to New Orleans and then Mobile Alabama until July 2nd when it arrived at Yorktown Peninsula where it relieved General Pemberton's forces guarding that Confederate capital prior to its evacuation on July 4th under orders from Jefferson Davis. It should be noted that while there were other companies manned by volunteer infantrymen throughout this period (e.g., Company K), 1st Regiment Michigan Volunteer Infantry is considered to be one of the most honored units within Marine Corps lore for its participation in military engagements throughout America's Civil War era including Memphis Barracks Campaign (July 1861-September 1865) and Siege of Petersburg (April 1865-May 1870). After Yorktown Peninsula was evacuated all volunteer infantry units along with artillery were disbanded effective August 15th 1865 due to lack of men for garrison duties around Charlottesville Virginia until December 1865 when marine unit companies W Fifty-Third Tennessee Volunteers/2d Ulysses S Grant's Division Assigned To Rear Admiral Farragut departed Richmond Virginia for duty off Norfolk North Carolina January 6TH -February 14TH 18664 little had changed since April 1865 with brand new uniforms no tents or coffee houses provided so marines manning these units did their best job possible living off rations they brought over from Hampton Roads VA
There is no doubt that Marines are some of the most dedicated and patriotic individuals that exist in our society. They fight for their country with every breath they take, and it is clear that they love doing so. That being said, there are also some Marine Corps members who choose to deploy as gifts for loved ones. One such Marine who has been deployed many times as a gift is Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Kappelman of Battalion Landing Team 2-3rd Marines in Quantico, Virginia. Sergeant Kappelman was recently awarded an Army Commendation Medal for his bravery during Operation Inherent Resolve, which was conducted in Syria. He sustained injuries while fighting alongside his comrades and was able to return home only after months of rehabilitationilitation. This demonstrates just how remarkable Sgt. Kappelman truly is and how much he means to his unit and country!

Dyer, Indiana is a small town in the state of Indiana. The population was 5,903 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Dyer County. The first settler in what became Dyer County was James Pritchard in 1814. He and his wife, Rebecca, arrived on a raft from Portsmouth, England and started a farm near modern day Lafayette. Other early settlers included John Fenton in 1820 and William Henson in 1825. The first store was built about 1830 by Isaac Weller and it remained open until 1886 when it burned down. Dyer's earliest industries were agriculture and local manufacturing of goods for local consumption such as salt licks and shoes. In 1865, the railroad came to town making it easier to get goods to market. However, this did not last long as rapid growth continued outside of the railroad radius which led to increased competition which hurt business Vijay Kumar Dyer ran an influential paper company that made binders called "Purdue" products out of cotton wrappers until it closed its doors in 1924 with only 100 employees producing 20 pounds of paper a day before World War II ended any need for such an product because there were no markets left for them due to American interventionism In 1925, Julius Rosenwald purchased part ownership of Jell-O Enterprises which led to the development of Chicago's Big Three food processors - Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Ford Motor Company (FORD) and Mobil Oil Corporation - all located within one mile (1 km) of Dyer where they processed agricultural commodities exported from India into North America After years of decline caused by factors including overproduction during World War II followed by bad management at ADM/FORD/Mobil oil plants following the war/, today much thanks go to Purdue University who produced more than 3 million jobs worldwide associated with printing products final assembly elsewhere including some 1600 jobs here in Dyer thanks also goes out to many other smaller businesses that contribute nothing but good things for our community

In 1951, Admiral Chester Nimitz donated 1 million dollars towards Marine Corps research into space exploration. In 1957, Commandant Charles Halsey presented them with a model of an F4U Corsair fighter jet which would become one of the most iconic marine jets ever created. The following year saw them send birthday cards filled with candy for every marine lieutenant colonel across America atolls including Guam and Saipan before returning home on Christmas night! In 1966 they sent holiday presents directly to families living on Okinawa Prefecture (including rice kugels and cookies) – this was only the beginning of their philanthropy! Over time it has become more elaborate and diverse; from sending children’s toys back home after holidays to sponsoring disaster relief initiatives such as tsunami victims in Japan or hurricane Katrina survivors in New Orleans. It can be hard notto feel like these marines are part of your family when you receive a gift from them!

Dyer was founded in 1837 by Levi Dyer and his wife Nancy. The town first received a post office in 1840. In 1862, the Union army passed through the town on their way to Battle Creek. local citizens gathered supplies for the soldiers and donated money to purchase food. By 1865, Dyer had a population of about 150 people and two churches. The town's growth slowed in the 1870s as cotton production declined in the region. By 1900, Dyer had a population of about 350 people and only one church remaining. Dyer's decline began during World War I when many residents left for military service. After the war, few new residents moved into the town, resulting in its decline further. In 1923, Dyer became an incorporated municipality with a population of just under 500 people. During World War II, much effort was made to rebuild destroyed homes and businesses in Dyer following the devastation caused by bombing raids from Japan. However, little progress was made until after Vietnam War when many residents returned to help rebuild postwar housing projects statewide. As late as 1978, there were still no new dwellings or businesses being built in Dyer; however, this has changed over time as more settlers arrive each year and begin anewching old buildings into use again as homes or business places once again
Dyer is an unincorporated community in Posey County, Indiana. It was located on the north side of the Dearborn River.
