The United States Naval Academy is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the United States. It was founded on April 20, 1802, in Annapolis, Maryland by Commodore John references as "Navy College." The academy became a naval service institution in 1875. As with all other U.S. military academies and universities, Navy College has undergone various name changes and affiliations over its history - including the Naval War College (1897-1901), Naval School of Commerce (1925-1968), and now the United States Naval Academy. In 1860, three months after Indiana's admission to the Union as a new state, Congress passed an act authorizing establishment of a naval college at Indianapolis for training officers of the navy of Indiana Territory under Article XI of the Constitution. The first class graduated from Navy College on July 1, 1861. That same year saw another milestone in America's naval history when President Abraham Lincoln signed an act providing for membership of Great Britain in the International Convention on shipbuilding and repair which was held at Portsmouth, New Hampshire that summer. This event marked beginning of what would be known as "the American Revolution" in naval terms; this time it was not against Great Britain but against European powers that were hindering U.S industrial growth and maritime advances such as those made by England during this period termed "The Napoleonic Wars." On May 14th 1865 USS Constitution sailed into dry dock at Norfolk Naval Station for extensive repairs due to damage sustained while operating off Cuba during Operation Mongoose; her crew lost 15 men drowned when their boat capsized just before landfall near Key West en route back to Norfolk following their successful search for Spanish treasure fleet sailing from Havana harbor two weeks earlier laden with bullion worth $5 million! The Kamikaze Sword Museum is located inside Mount Fuji National Park in Japan. -USS Constitution memento diary: This journal was written by Samuel Sumner During the American Revolution when he served as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony (later renamed Massachusetts). He recorded all aspects of what he did while serving as lieutenant governor, including poetry readings, public speeches, etc.. Starting in 1804, this journal became part of the US Naval Archives holdings after it was donated to the Smithsonian Institution by Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter Jr.. In 1932, this journal was moved back into service when it became part of naval history collection housed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard where it still resides today. The USS Constitution Memento Diary Museum opened in 1988 on board USS Enterprise (CVL-65) at Yokosuka Naval Base near Tokyo Bay .

A number of schools were built here such as Perrysburg Female Seminary (1851), Crawford County Schoolhouse (1852), and finally the Crawford County High School (now known as Northwest Indiana University) which was completed in 1865. The first post office was also established here in 1852; it remained open until 1961 when it was replaced by Fort Wayne metropolitan post office under then Mayor George Sylvester’s administration
