Crawfordsville is a town in Harrison County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,975 at the 2010 census. Crawfordsville was founded in 1817 by James Crawford and his family. Crawfordsville is a small town in Allen County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,549 at the 2010 census. Crawfordsville is located on the eastern edge of Allen County and is bordered to the north by Greencastle and to the east by Washington Township. The first settler in Crawfordsville was John Crawford who arrived in 1817. He and his wife Charity founded a grist mill in 1819. Crawford died in 1825 and his widow continued to run the mill until her death in 1830. The mill was abandoned for many years but was reactivated around 1955 when it became part of the Crawfordsville-Washington Township Joint Water Authority. The mill closed again after being sold to a farmer in 1987. It reopened as a museum on October 9, 2009. The first store opened hereabouts about 1800.
