From 1958 until 1971, much of South Campus (now known as Hilltop Campus) was used for military training purposes by United States Army Aviation Command; this portion continues to be used today for training activities by Purdue Air Force Academy cadets and other members of the U S Military academies Thereafter most programming on South Campus ceased except for special events such as Homecoming or Veterans Day which are typically held at Hilltop campus under new name - "UCLA On The Green" . Additionally since 1971 many buildings on North Campus have been occupied by various businesses including law offices etc.; these businesses have since been renovated and returned back onto campus using funds from students/staffs themselves
