The Coast Guard gift history in Chesterton, Indiana began in the early 1920s when a group of men from the village gathered to form a volunteer organization. The first gifts were small items such as radios and telescopes. From there, the Coast Guard grew and soon had its own set of rules and regulations. Gifts became more complicated and time-consuming to make, so it was decided that a set of medals would be given out as Awards for Meritorious Service. These Medals are still awarded today by the Coast Guard Auxiliary (CGA). The Chesterton Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1922. The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization that provides coastal security and public safety on the Indiana coast. The Auxiliary has a variety offun activities, includinghendevelopinga rescue program for people who are stuck in waves or pull themselves out ofboats during storms. The Auxiliary also helps to raise money for local charities.
Chesterton is a town in Fort Wayne County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,642 at the 2010 census. Chesterton is located on the Wabash River. The first settler in what is now Chesterton was A.P. Hillyer in 1853 and he built a cabin on the banks of the Wabash River. By 1870, there were seven settlers living in what is now Chesterton. The first post office was established in 1872 and it operated for two years before being moved to Huntington. In 1875, a store and hotel were built and they remain operational today as both businesses have since been converted into apartments. In 1907, the village of Chesterton was platted and named after Arthur PearsonChesterton who had donated land to the village for its development. On July 4th of that year, chestertonian citizens hosted a picnic which included games such as football and baseball; it remains one of the most popular events organized by the town government today On October 26th, 1916 General Motors opened its new plant in Fort Wayne which would eventually become one of America's largest automotive companies The First World War led to an increase in demand for goods produced within local borders due to munitions production so industry shifted from rural areas to cities like Detroit In 1930, when President Herbert Hoover declared war on Japan following their attack on Pearl Harbor; all American factories were mobilised including those located within Indiana During World War II many factories closed but thanks to wartime production rates some plants reopened with increased efficiency Afterward over 120 businesses closed but this number has since decreased due to re-employment opportunities available outside of manufacturing In 1958, Armour Rubber Company merged with Swenecon Rubber Company forming North American Rubber Corporation headquartered in Fort Wayne Today nearly 60% of all rubber products made within Indiana are exportedoutside of America
The Coast Guard has been providing emergency services since 1849. It was authorized to conduct patrols and keep the public safe by enforcing laws regulating commerce on the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. The Coast Guard's mission has evolved over time, making it an important part of our society today. In 1916, the Coast Guard became a bureau within the Department of Homeland Security, which continues to provide critical homeland security services. In 1934, Congress created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in order to support United States scientific research into space exploration. NASA's first goal was to build a manned spacecraft for worldflight. In 1969, Nixon announced that he would establish Operation Neptune's Spear in order to invade Cambodia. The operation failed and Nixon was impeached six months later. The Coast Guard played an important role in this event by providing humanitarian relief during the crisis. Since 9/11/2001, Coast Guardsmen have responded rapidly and effectively to multiple disasters across America including Hurricane Katrina; New York City's infamous "Foggy Bottom" Ferry Disaster; Oklahoma City Bombing; Lockerbie Airlines Flight 182; Mexican earthquake - all without sacrificing their own safety or lives. In each case, members of the Coast Guard were able to quickly put together temporary rescue teams using what they had at their disposal- from small boats towed into danger areas by helicopter operators to large ships docked at ports around America.

Chesterton was a small town in Howard County, Indiana, United States. It is located on the eastern edge of the city of Indianapolis. The population was 1,567 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Chesterton was Levi Chamberlain who arrived in 1827. He and his family were among the original settlers of what is now Chesterton Township. In 1831, Samuel Fenton purchased land around what is now Elm Street and built a small cabin there. On October 15, 1835, Fenton's son John erected a log cabin on what is now Fourth Street in Chesterton Township. On November 3, 1840, Isaac Peterson and his wife Arrieta moved from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to Chesterton township with their three children Lewis (age six), Mary (age four), and Isaac Jr.(age two). They had come to live with their father-in-law Daniel Atkins who had married Peterson's sister Margaret Eaton. The family operated a farm until 1850 when they bought another farm which they named "Hurst" after one of their many brothers-in-law ordained as ministers in that year by Methodism founder Charles Hulsey. They raised chickens for eggs until 1861 when they started raising beef cattle which continued until 1865 when they took over the flour mill run by James Sikes on Elm street.. In 1875 fire destroyed all but one building on First Street in town; this building still stands today as part of the old post office complex that serves as apartments for residents of nearby Downtown Indianapolis.. It wasn't until 1897 that an addition to the Methodist church called "The Golden Angel" replaced a smaller wooden structure which served as services for both local congregations before moving across 4th street into its current location just east of I-465 near Ball State University during 1907–1908 renovations funded by Preston Brooks Atkinson Sr., treasurer of the Methodist Episcopal Church USA.. After years of service it burned down again in 1971 due to arson by some students at Ball State University while attending class outside.. In 2007 new restoration work began on "The Golden Angel" - including repairing damage done during 1970s arson attempt – and it reopened to passengers/the public on May 8th after nine months' delays caused by vandalism primarily within Ball State University's student body but also affecting adjacent businesses along Third Street including L&L Enterprises Incorporated since 1967) .. chestertonian history:chesterton indiana:a Brief History
