The United States Army has a long history in Cedar Lake, Indiana. The first U.S. military outpost in the area was Camp Wayne which was established in 1814 as a means of providing security for the area during the War of 1812. In 1830, General Harrison founded Fort Wayne and designated Cedar Lake as its capital. The fort served as an important strategic site during the American Civil War because it overlooked the city of Detroit and allowed Ulysses S. Grant to control access to that city while besieging it from its north side. It is also significant for being one of only two U.S. military outposts located on Indian territory during the entire war-the other being Fort Gibson on Great Lakes tribe land). In 1898, following World War I, Cedar Lake became home to Camp Dodge where soldiers from all over the country were assembled for training purposes before returning home to their own countries (thus endangering their equipment and supplies). In 1941, following World War II, Cedar Lake became home to Fort Knox where troops underwent training for Operation Overlord-the Normandy invasion of Europe. During that time period, there were also changes taking place at Fort Knox-most notably when commandant George Patton replaced Major General James M.] Forrestal as Commanding Officer in 1948 after Forrestal's resignation from service due to allegations of sexual misconduct with enlisted personnel). Today,Fort Knox remains an important military installation within the United StatesArmy and is known for housing both infantry and armored units as well as support functions such as artillery batteries and airfields; however, many of its buildings have been removed or converted into civilian uses such as a library and restaurant complex known locally simply as "Kinnick". Additionally, portions of Fort Knox are open to visitors who can view barracks areas used by different branches of the armed forces including infantry divisions stationed here (e.g., 3d Infantry Division), armor brigades (7th Armored Brigade), artillery battalions (9th Artillery Battalion) and Special Forces teams such as Delta Force blah blah blah etc etc etc... basically anything you could think up!

Cedar Lake is a natural, 1,564 acre lake located in Perry Township, Indian County, Indiana. It was formed by the confluence of two small streams, Cedar and White. The name Cedar Lake was given to it by General David Dixon who named it for the cedar trees that grew on its shores. The first settlers were farmers and their families who arrived in 1814. In 1854, the Erie Railroad came through Indian County and the residents started using the railroad to get goods to their homes. They also used the railroad to bring people and goods to Cedar Lake. When Cedar Lake became a reservoir in 1938, many people decided to move away from Indian County because of its high water levels. The last family moved out in 1958. Cedar Lake has been a popular fishing spot ever since it was created and today it is still one of the most popular places to go swimming or fishing in Northern Indiana The water at Cedar Lake is always crystal clear and there are plenty of fish hiding inside all of the logs that line its banks. One common species of fish that can be found here is largemouth bass, which can reach up to 6 inches long when full grown. Other favorites include crappie and catfish; both are very deep-bodied creatures that can grow as large as 12 inches when fully grown There are severallaunch ramps available for those who want to launch their own boat intothe lake Additionally, there are also several dock areas available should someone need assistance getting onto or off ofthe boat There's even an area where you can put your kayak or canoe if desired In additionto these amenities, there is also a playground complete with swings and playhouse for children ; this makesfor an enjoyable day out whether you're just looking for some peaceful sunbathing or something more challenging One downside about spending time at CedarLake is that there's not much else close by that offers similar activities . However , if you're looking for something more active then check out nearby towns such as Peru or Westville ; they have plenty of shopping malls, amusement parks,, etc., so finding something new won't be too difficult
