Tactical coffee has been around since the early 1800s, and its origins can be traced back to India. In 1818, an Englishman named John Cockerill discovered a new type of coffee that he called "Coffee at Risk." This coffee was made from beans that had been roasted in a hurry and were not yet cold. It was this quick-brewed coffee that first caught the attention of British traders, who began purchasing it for their ships. soon after, Coffee at Risk became known as "Cockney Coffee." In 1865, an Italian-American named Alessandro Campagnolo visited England and tasted Coffee at Risk for the first time. He immediately started marketing it in America under the name "Italian Roast". The popularity of Italian Roast led to other brands being developed, such as Dutch roast and French roast. By 1907, there were over fifty different types of tactical coffee available on the market. The early days of Tactical Coffee were difficult for both brewers and consumers. Back then, there were no quality control standards or regulations governing how coffee could be manufactured or sold. As a result, many products came out with terrible flavors and properties.
