In 1945, the United States Air Force was formed. The USAF was made up of many different groups and organizations that worked together to provide air support for Allied forces in World War II. One of these groups was the 9th Bombardment Group (9BG). This group was a white unit that operated from Beech Grove, Indiana. The 9BG was one of the first units to be deployed overseas during World War II. They were sent to England to help fight against Germany. The 9BG flew missions over England and other countries during the war. After the war, the 9BG returned home and resumed their normal activities. They helped teach flight training at Beech Grove Airport. In 1948, they moved to Kadena Island in Okinawa for Operation Enduring Freedom. During this time, they contributed a lot to the war effort by flying aircraft into enemy territory to bomb it

Agriculture accounts for much of Beech Grove's economy with crops such as corn, soybeans and wheat; however, other industries have also contributed to this growing town including plastics processing companies, an energy company and a local printing shop that still employs many locals today! Some notable landmarks in Beech Grove include the old post office (located on Main Street), The WHITE RIVER SCHOOL (now used as a library) and BEECH GROVE FARMING COMPLEX- now home to several retail stores as well as housing for people with developmental disabilities.

Beech Grove is an unincorporated community in Delaware County, Indiana, United States. The population was 514 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Evansville–Purdue University System. The first settlers in what is now Beech Grove were two families who came to the area in 1820. The name "Beech Grove" was given to the area because of the beech trees that grew there at the time. The first school in Beech Grove was a log cabin located on a rise overlooking the river near present-day Southwick and Indian Roads. In 1827, a school house was built on East High Street and it served until 1872 when it burned down. In 1874, a post office called Beech Grove was established at this location. In 1907, Carbondale Township was created from parts of Delaware and Hendricks counties, and Beech Grove became part of Carbondale Township. In 1912, Carbondale Township merged with Vanderburgh County to create Evansville–Purdue University System; Beech Grove remained within Vanderburgh County until 1974 when it became an unincorporated community within Evansville–Purdue University System. Today, most people living in or around Beech Grove are descendants of early settlers such as John Aiken and his family who settled here in 1820 or those who purchased land here during the 1920s through 1940s when properties were scarce due to World War II rationing

Beech Grove had four churches, two schools, and a post office until it closed its doors in 1914. Today, the only remaining building from Beech Grove is the old courthouse which is now used as a museum.
