The Avon Coast Guard Station was established in 1927, and the present facility was built in 1984. The station provides law enforcement and emergency services along the Indiana coast. It is home to the Avon County Sheriff's Department, as well as a number of other law enforcement agencies. The Coast Guard Station also plays an important role in maritime protection. It patrols the waters around Avon and nearby towns, providing security for vessels and their crews. In addition, it conducts search and rescue missions when necessary. The Avon Coast Guard Auxiliary was founded in 1922 and has been providing support to the town ofAvon since that time. The Auxiliary is a 501c3 Organization and provides a variety of services such as boat/boat trailer maintenance, harbor patrol, Search and Rescue, First Aid, and many more.
Avon, Indiana is a small town in central Indiana. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Micropolitan Statistical Area. Avon was founded in 1824 by John Avon and his brother-in-law David Wilkinson as a trading post on the Sycamore River. The first store opened in 1829 and the town name changed to Avon in 1848. The first school was established in 1840 and it became a high school in 1908. In 1912, Avon became an incorporated city and has since grown into a major center for commerce and culture with many businesses including 4 banks, 12 stores, 6 restaurants, 2 theaters, 1 library system, 2 golf courses (1 public), 1 college (Indiana Wesleyan University) and 1 hospital (Indiana Memorial Hospital). The economy of Avon is heavily dependent on agriculture which continues to be its mainstay despite experiencing significant cuts over the past few years due to budget constraints. There are also several small businesses that are not affected by these austerity measures such as arts and crafts stores or pet supply shops. One recent development that has had a significant impact on the local economy is the opening of two new shopping malls: one near downtown called "The mall at Fountain Square" and another near Interstate 65 called "Michigan Mall". These developments have brought new business owners into town who were previously absent from Avon because they were located outside of town or away from important highways. This has led to an increase in economic activity within town overall as well as creating more opportunities for residents to get involved with their community through various forms of civic engagement such as hosting events or working on committees
The Coast Guard has been providing service to the United States since 1790. The Coast Guard was originally organized as a militia, and its first mission was to protect American coastal towns and harbors. In 1916, the Coast Guard became an agency of the Department of Transportation. In 1966, the Coast Guard assumed jurisdiction over all U.S. maritime activities including fishing and icebreaking. The Coast Guard also provides coastal security by helping to enforce regulations on ocean traffic and by providing public education about marine safety. The Coast Guard gift history begins with a few donated arms from members of Congress in 1851. These donations helped fund the creation of the United States military coast guard force which would provide security for America's coasts until 1898 when it was merged into the Marines (see below). After World War II, gifts from private citizens continued to be a major source of funding for the Coast Guardsmen and their families through both legislation and appropriations Acts (see below). During this time period, many different types of items were donated to help improve coastal defense such as radar systems, boats, ammo supplies, flagships, marines, jet skis and more (see table 1). From 1958 until 1984 there was only one type of donation per year - a boat - with exceptions made for humanitarian disasters or during special occasions like Christmas or Memorial Day ( see table 2 ). Since 1984 there have been several innovation initiatives within the Coast Guard that have led to new gifts being given annually including Aircrew Gear (including aviation equipment), Boats/Boating Supplies(including lifejackets/logistical support)Marine Corps items(such as helmets/flotation devices), Helicopter Parts(such as engines/ rotor blades), Jet Ski Parts(including landing gear/tailplanes)) In recent years there has been some concern about how these innovative Gifts will affect operational effectiveness on our nation's coasts due in part to decreased governmental funding which can lead to long deployments away from shoreline locations Our hope is that this new initiative will help preserve our coastline while improving our operational efficiency thereby ensuring we are able to provide quality services at an affordable cost!

Avon is a small town in Hancock County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in what is now Avon were some of the early pioneers who migrated from Kentucky during the Revolutionary War. They built a log cabin on what is now U.S. Route 10 and named it "Avon." The first post office was established in 1836, and became known as "Cedarburg." In 1853, a sawmill was built on Cedar Creek by John Denton and others. The town name change to Avon when it incorporated as a village in 1875. Avon's economy changed significantly after World War II when its main industry became manufacturing of military equipment and supplies for the war effort. After the war ended, many factories closed down and many people left town; however, there are still remnants of those businesses today such as A & J Aviation Services which makes helicopters. In recent years there has been an increase in development around town with new restaurants, bars and convenience stores opening up along US 10 including Ford's Place- a restaurant that serves Americanized Chinese food- as well as several high-end apartments/condos being developed near US 10 and Veterans Memorial Boulevard (just north of downtown).
