The United States Air Force (USAF) has a rich and colorful history of deploying gifts to its servicemen and women. From flowers, cheese, and cigarettes to military gear, the USAF has always been deployed in support of its citizens. The USAF's Deployed Gift History program helps to preserve this history by returning donated items to the service members who have them. The first stationed at Avon, Indiana was the 9th Bomb Wing in 1952. At that time, it was part of VIII Bomber Command which operated out of RAF Mildenhall in England. The wing took delivery of two Lockheed L-4A Tridents for use as air traffic control planes. These planes were used during Operation Overlord when they participated in ground operations over Normandy. In 1957, Avon became home to the 4th Bomb Squadron which arrived from Dyess AFB TX on F-100 Super Sabre jets. This squadron was responsible for providing close air support against enemy forces while also conducting missions inside North Korea! During the Vietnam War, both the 1st Bombardment Wing (7th Bombardment Group) and II Bomber Command (9th Bomber Wing) located at Avon supported US Forces with deliveries including A-6 Intruder aircraft and KC-135 Stratotankers! In 1992, after many years of service within IX Bomber Command under III Bomber Command Headquarters stationed at Pease AFB ME, IX Bomber Command moved its HQ ashore at Greenville AB and changed callsigns to 3rd Airlift Wing (3AW). With this change came a new era for deployed gift history as 3AW began delivering cargo/ mail via Douglas C-47 Skytrain transports from Greenville AFB! In 2001 we moved our headquarters back ashore once again but with an updated mission - providing humanitarian assistance through delivering food parcels directly to families living in disaster areas! Our continued success story is due in large part to our partnerships with local businesses who donate their goods or services which are then sold back into the military equipment donation process! Avon, Indiana is a small town located in northeastIndiana. The population was 7,811 as of the 2010 census. It lies on the eastern edge of Indianapolis, and is bordered by LaPorte County to the north, Hendricks County to the east, and Posey County to the south. Avon is part of the Indiapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in this area were farmers who arrived in 1827. They began farming corn and other crops, but soon realized that they needed access to water resources for their operations. In 1846, a group of men from Illinois came downriver and founded a community called Griggsville downstream from where Avon now stands. The name Griggsville was chosen because it sounded like an English word meaning "good place." By 1850, Griggsville hadgrown large enough that it decided to move its center of government westward into what is nowLaPorte County. This decision helped spur development withinAvon itself; by 1860, most of its businesses had been built or started up there. In addition to its business activity,Avon also became known for its annual cotton fair which took place atGriggsville Airport in early summer each year. At first this event consisted only of salesof cotton yarns and fabric samples from local stores; over time it grew into an important economic development opportunity forthe town. By 1957, however, when Indianapolis Municipal CodeNo.2was promulgated governing village formations within citiesand towns throughout Indiana (but not including Avon),Griggsville City Council decided thatAvondown should become their new home instead because it offered more space than any other site available inside city limits at that time and also possessed deeper water depths than any other spot along the river near downtown Indy

The first deployment of gift history occurred on December 8, 1943 when the RAF gifted 11 planes and pilots to the USAAF. In 1944, AFB deployed a total of 36 planes and pilots to war with Great Britain. The gift history program continued through the Korean War and into Vietnam where it provided support for American forces throughout that conflict.
Avon, Indiana is a town in Kosciusko County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute–East Central Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Avon was Levi Coffin who arrived in 1814 and built a cabin on the east side of the creek near present day Court House Road. In 1825, John Hargrave came to the area and founded a farm northeast of Court House Road on what is now known as Hargrave Place. On July 4th, 1827, David Dixon and his family arrived from Illinois. They built an addition to their cabin which still stands today on land that later became town hall square and schoolhouse lot. After initial pioneers had settled there for awhile it became apparent that proper transportation was needed so George Washington Carver organized a wagon road from Kosciusko County to Bloomington in about 1853 with the intention of selling produce from his farmsteads along this route to settlers in nearby towns like Terre Haute or East Central Indiana (now West Lafayette). This wagon road would become known as Old State Route 20 or "The Great Western Highway" because it connected all of centralIndiana together during its early years! In 1865 when Kosciusko County was split into two parts – one including Avon Township (later Kosciusko County) and another including Addison Township (later Spencer County) – Avon Township chose not to secede but endorsed the new county government. The first avon post office opened in 1865 under name "Addison". During World War II much activity took place at home industries such as munitions manufacture due to war-time shortages elsewhere; however, little evidence remains today of this production beyond some abandoned munitions factories located near Parkersburg where various military installations were constructed after World War II while other portions of Kosciusko County continued to be rural until recently when heavy industry has begun returning back into Avon with more recent construction projects such as an ethanol plant and paper mill adjacent to town square currently under development by local business owners - providing many residents with jobs directly related to their businesses! Today's economy depends heavily upon agriculture with most residents working within walking distance of their homes; however some newer developments are beginning to sprout up around town Square including several restaurants/cafes/bars which have helped fill some cultural gaps previously left vacant by traditional roadside eating establishments!
