In 1881, Indiana's national guard was organized. The 1st regiment, Infantry, was created on February 14th and mustered in at the Muncie Arsenal. The regiment served in the Indian War and the Civil War. On September 25th, 1903, the regiment was redesignated as the 7th infantry Regiment of Indiana National Guard and re-organized on October 16th into a battalion. In 1907, it became a brigade and in 1912 it became a corps. On November 3rd, 1916, it was redesignated as the 8th infantry Regiment of Indiana National Guard and re-organized into three battalions (1st battalion being disbanded in 1927). On May 15th, 1938 it reverted to its original name of 1st Infantry Brigade of Indiana National Guard. On January 3rd, 1949, 1st Brigade formed part of XII Corps within United States Army Air Forces Continental Air Command during Korean War when that corps was activated from reserve units under I Bomber Command control. When I Bomber Command disbanded on July 31st after hostilities ended there was no longer an air wing assigned to IX Bombardment Wing which left brigade without wings for participation in aerial combat operations over Korea The brigade continued its participation with IX Bomber Wing untilactivated on August 27th 1946 when all active USAF Wings were dissolved across America including VIII Bomber Wing which also flew bombardment missions over Korea however none were assigned to IX Bomber Wing

Many cities and towns request that members of local militias report for drill every week at 10am sharp (except Christmas day). This tradition continues today as part of patriotic programming throughout America! In 1954, President Eisenhower authorized all state militias within our Nation’s borders – not just those serving in federal militaries – to become “state rifle companies” ( SRCs). These rifle companies became integral components of state Defense departments and continued participation until 1990 when all SRCs were disbanded due primarily to budget cuts! In 1962 Congress passed legislation authorizing special unit designation (SU) status for certain portions of The National Guard Bureau (NGB) which had been activated under Executive Order 9102 dated November 16 1961 pursuant thereto but never funded or equipped nor manned by any Regular Army elements thereof through such date; these being commando groups formed specifically for unconventional warfare purposes only- i e Delta Force etc… On October 15 1966 PUBLIC LAW 89-541 designated Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment NGB San Francisco California As The Command Post Of THE NORTH AMERICAN GUARD CAMPUS SPECIAL OPERATIONS TEAM - WEBER AFB . THIS NEW NAME WAS SUPPLIED BY HQND GDS FEDERAL RESERVE BUREAU WASHINGTON D C UNDER A PROVISION OF THE ARMY PROCEEDINGS CODE DATED APRIL 28 1969 .
