AUBURN, Ind. – Auburn University's (AU) prestigious School of Veterinary Medicine presents the "Veterinarian Assistant of the Year" award to a veterinary assistant who has made an exceptional contribution to their profession and who has shown great dedication to their patients and colleagues. The award is presented annually by the AU Veterinary Medical Association in recognition of an individual whose work demonstrates extraordinary dedication to their professional goals and who has displayed courage, perseverance and innovation in their work as a veterinarian assistant. This year's recipient is Amber Deaton of Hammond, IN. Amber is a graduate of Auburn with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Indiana State University (ISU). After completing her undergraduate studies at AU, she worked for two years as a veterinary assistant at Our Lady Of The Lake Animal Hospital in Noblesville before moving to Hammond in 2016 to become a full-time veterinarian assistant at local pet business, Pawsitive Place Inc., where she has been employed since Spring 2017. Amber's devotion to her patients and professionalism have earned her many admirers within her community and beyond. She is currently working on several projects with other veterinarians assistants throughout Central Indiana in order to improve care for animals both human and animalivorous alike. Her commitment towards her patients shows no sign of stopping soon; Amber says that she simply cannot wait until she can help those same animals receive the best possible care possible!
