By 1902, when Alfred Sloan opened his new factory on Third Avenue near Main Street, retail grocery stores had started appearing throughout central Indiana and this led to more people buying their favorite cup of Joe from local businesses instead of going out to buy pre-packaged items like cereal or pop rocks from distant stores. At some point during World War II, most of Point Loma's (now downtown) production stopped because there was no way for soldiers stationed nearby to get fresh roasted coffee beans without leaving headquarters - until nearby Fort Wayne began producing its own brand of espresso during the war years (see below). It wasn't until after 1945 that we began seeing street cafes opening up all over town - beginning with Huey's Café on South State Street and continuing through into today at various locations including Crossroads Arcade & Grill on East Main Street and Belle Isle Brewing Company on Lake Michigan Boulevard just east of I-465! In recent decades there has been a trend towards smaller townies/cafes serving up high quality freshly roasted coffee every day rather than having one big city commercial center where everyone can purchase their favorite variety (though you'll still find Point Loma espresso shops present). Auburn, Indiana is a small town in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,906 at the 2010 census, up from 1,872 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. Auburn is located on US-63 east of Terre Haute and south of Indianapolis. The first white settlers in what is now Auburn were James Hargrave and his wife Elizabeth who arrived in 1799 and named their new home "Hargrave's Fort". In 1802, John Hargrave moved with his family to what is now Auburn from Steubenville, Ohio due torainwater overflowing a mill pond that had been built by his father-in-law for that purpose. In 1825, David Ransom founded Dixie Land Company which donated land to establish a village on the site of present day Auburn Village. The first post office was established in 1826 and became known as "Ransom's Station" after David Ransom himself. A store was built near the junction of State Road 63 and County Road 3 which served as the village's first courthouse when it opened its doors on October 15th, 1830 The village incorporated as a town on March 3rd, 1868 under an act approved by the Indiana General Assembly . On December 12th 1870 , during Reconstruction days before American Civil War began , violence erupted between pro-Union forces and Confederate sympathizers in nearby Terre Haute resulting in twenty six deaths
