In 1907, Toll Road #2 was completed through central Yorkville and caused much excitement because it would allow goods to be brought quickly and easily from Chicago to different parts of Illinois. This helped new businesses open up and helped improve life for those who lived in town. After World War II ended, many people left Yorkvillie for jobs opportunities outside of Illinois. However, some residents decided to stay and continue their traditions such as hosting summer concerts or holding community events such as Fourth of July fireworks displays (which are still done today). In recent years there have been efforts made by local officials to revive downtownYorkville which has seen success with revitalization projects such as Heritage Park which contains a variety of exhibits related to local history; The Rialto Theatre which reopened after being closed for over 20 years; and new development including One hundredth Street Live! which offers cultural events throughout the year
