The Gourmet Coffee Company was founded in Woodstock, Illinois in 1912 by the brothers Harry and Abe Rosenthal. The company became one of the largest coffee sellers in the Midwest. In 1916, they opened their first store in Chicago. The company continued to grow and expand its business into other cities throughout the Midwest and America. By 1932, they had reached a sales total of $1 million. They were renamed Gourmet Coffee Corporation in 1935. The corporation grew rapidly and by 1941, it had over 100 stores across North America. In 1942, they produced their first espresso machine which helped them reach even greater heights as an industry leader.
Woodstock is a small town in Macomb County, Illinois, United States. The population was 2,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The town was organized on July 1, 1871 when a group of farmers and businessmen bought title to 640 acres (2 km²) in what is now Woodstock Township. The first settler was William Rountree. A store and post office were built there in 1872, but it didn't take off until after the railroad came through in 1875. In 1888, the first bandstand was built on what is now Main Street. It became an important stop for music lovers from across the Midwest as well as people who wanted to see famous acts like Edison Brothers Band and Barnstormers perform. In 1902, a dam was built to provide irrigation water for the cornfields around town while also creating Lake Woodstock which still exists today. They also started construction of Park Avenue which runs parallel to Main street today and still contains many of the early businesses that made Woodstock such an important community: First National Bank, General Electric Car Corporation (now Mitsubishi Electric), Ford dealership etc.. One of my favorite features about this community is how much history it has!

Coffee became popular in Europe because it was cheaper than other drinkable substances and could be brewed quickly on small scale. roasting shops started opening up in the late 1800s as people realized they could make more money by selling roasted coffee than buying it fresh from farmers. Roasting cafés became popular throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa during the early 1900s. By the end of World War I, coffee had spread to most parts of the world including North America where it continued to grow in popularity until the early 1930s when Prohibition made it difficult for retailers to sell coffee. Coffee continues to be enjoyed today by many people all over the world who enjoy different types of coffees based on their personal preferences

Woodstock, Illinois is a small town located in the southern portion of Cook County, Illinois. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. Woodstock was founded on July 20, 1847 by John C. Goodspeed and his wife Ann Goodspeed. The Goodstocks were among the first white settlers in what would become Cook County. The town was named after a place called "Woodstock" in England where Charles Dickens stayed while he wrote A Tale of Two Cities. In 1848, when Illinois became a state, the name of the town changed to Chicago because it was then part of Michigan Territory. In 1857, when Chicago and all of Illinois became a United States territory, the name of the town changed back to Woodstock because that's where John C. Goodspeed had originated from originally. In 1906, Woodstock lost its incorporation as a village and became an incorporated townsite under the name of Chicago South Side Community Development District No. 2 (CSND-2). On November 14th of that year, CSND-2 absorbed neighboring communities including Hinsdale and Bridgeview Heights into their fold; this action shortened Park Ridge Road from its original four miles to two miles wide within city limits during those days before full road construction began several years later. On December 6th 1912 CPSD-2 merged with nearby community Ridgeway to form Near North Side Community Development District (NNSD) which included most or all of today's Gold Coast neighborhood as well as much of West Town north and east of Lake Shore Drive extending across present day Cicero Avenue between Belmont Boulevard/Jefferson Boulevard and Clark Street/Lake Shore Drive westward along Lake Michigan shoreline until it reachedWPKL southbound on Kedzie Avenue just beyond Cicero Avenue intersection with Halsted Street eastward for about one mile until Robertson Drive enters CPWD boundaries; WPKL has since been extended southward past Kedzie Avenue intersection onto Randolph Road Golf Course Extension which parallels I-90 corridor starting at northbound I-290 exit ramp off US 90 near Hammonds Point Rd., continuing southeast on I-290 past I-PASS exit toll plaza until reaching aluminum smelter area now being served by Metra Rail yards located just east side limestone quarry area bordered by Winthrop Road on one side & Old Irvington Rd./northwest corner Running Springs Rd./southwest corner—all within city limits now known as Midtown Westside Neighborhoods development corporation (MWNDC)
On July 3, 1847, the first organized meeting of people from Woodstock, Illinois took place. The town was named for a nearby mountain and the event consisted of a wagon ride to the top of the mountain to trade goods with other settlements.
