The company’s origins can be traced back to the early 1970s when two friends, Rick and Dona Hauer, started a small coffee shop called Java Joe’s on the corner of West Main Street and South Elm Street. Maga Coffee was founded by Rick and Dona Hauer with the goal of providing quality coffee at an affordable price. In 1978, Maga Coffee opened its first store in Wood Dale with a total of four stores across Northwest Illinois. In 1978, maga coffee purchased their own bean farm near Mount Prospect, Illinois which continues to produce high quality beans today.

A post office called Wood Dale was started in 1839 by Nathan Hoyle and named for General David Johnson's home county of Delaware County, Ohio (now Greenville). In 1841 another post office was established at what is now the corner of North Main Street and West State Street; this one was known as "Cottonwood". In 1847 the name change to "Wood Dale" after Major John WOOD, an officer with the Illinois militia during the Mexican War who had fought at Yuma River Rancho de las Animas near modern-day Clarendon Heights. The name has been retained ever since. In 1860, Wood Dale became a village when it merged with neighboring Plainfield. As villagehood grew more popular among residents, it voted to separate itself from Plainfield in 1902 via a referendum objections to various annexations that had taken place within that community over the years without their consent or input. This unilateral decision By village officials led to friction between them and Plainfield for many years thereafter until unification finally took place in 2002 under new leadership which disbanded all duplicate committees and restored traditional Village government structures including elected Mayor/Councils along with a Police Department The Village has also attracted attention due to its unique mix of agricultural values with some large scale development projects like One World Trade Center redevelopment which have brought jobs and tax revenue into the community The following are key events that occurred within or nearby Wood Dale while making it an important center for agricultural production: 1837 - Levi Coffin settles here after traveling through Indiana on his way to California 1860 - First villages form in Kane County when Plainfield annexed Wood Dale 2002 - Unification takes place under new leadership resulting in dissolution of duplicative committees and return of traditional Village government structures
