The first Gourmet Coffee shop opened in 1924 and operated out of a small grocery store on East Third Street. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Gourmet Coffee began to open cafes all over the United States. One of their most famous cafes was located in New York City, and it became known as the “ Mecca of Gourmet Coffee”. After moving to Chicago in the early 1960s, they continued to serve up some of the best gourmet coffee around. In addition to their cafe location, they also had several stores across Illinois that served up amazing coffee drinks with unique flavors and histories. Although these days there are not many Gourmet Coffee shops left open in Illinois, their legacy lives on in the delicious cups of coffee that we enjoy every day!

Westmont, Illinois is a small town in the northwestern corner of Illinois. With a population of just over 1,000 residents, it is one of the smallest towns in the state. The town was founded in 1854 by John West and his wife Margaret. It became an incorporated village in 1903. Westmont is located on the edge of a rolling countryside surrounded by hills. The Kankakee River runs through the town, providing drinking water for most of its residents. The climate here is temperate with cold winters and hot summers; precipitation varies from year to year but averages about 1,500 inches (30 cm). The main commercial activity within Westmont occurs around its two high schools: Westmont-Fremont and Carver-Hancock. Other businesses in the town include a gas station, convenience store, post office, two churches (Catholic and Lutheran), several medical offices including one affiliated with Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and another affiliated with Rush University Medical Center, as well as several homesites which offer vacation rentals or short-term rentals to visitors during their stay in westmont. A number of local attractions are also important to tourists visiting Westmont - including hiking trails that lead up to Mount Olympus and down to Blue Ridge Lake; golf courses such as Pella Municipal Golf Course; restaurants such as Jack & Jill's Diner; and select shops located near downtown Westmont proper or along Route 24 close to routes leading into neighboring communities like Parkersburg or Janesville.

Westmont, Ill. is a small town in the Peoria County metropolitan area of Illinois. The population was 8,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago–Naperville–Ft. Worth, IL-IN–WI Combined Statistical Area and is one of the oldest towns in Illinois. Westmont was platted in 1814 by Amos Kendall and others who came from British Columbia as fur traders looking for land to settle after their explorations in that territory failed. The first settlers arrived on December 15, 1814 when Amos Kendall landed on the present day farmstead of Westmont from his ship "Phoenix" anchored off what is now Peoria Harbor. Kendall and other early settlers built log homes which still stand today around milepost #1 on DeSoto Road near Interstate 70/US 41 (the original route). In 1835, surveyor Ira Woodruff mapped out Springfield Township including what is now Westmont and laid out a grid system with blocks square feet measuring 30x30 feet with a home lot size of .50 acres (0.24 hectares). In 1840, David Dudley bought property northeast of current day Westmont from John Brown and laid out Springfield Township alongidentical lines to which he added additional acreage eastward to form what are now Park Ridge and Villa Park neighborhoods located within OldWest Montessori School District boundaries today. In 1865 James Wagoner sold his interest in Dudley's township to Joseph Medill who named it Medill Township after himself; this name change occurred following an American Civil War victory over General Robert E Quarles's forces at Battle Creek Bridge south of Springfield in that year. Kansas City resident Isaac Newton Richardson purchased part ofMedill Township northwest of present day Westmount Avenue for $4,000 in 1868; Richardson donated most of his land comprising modern-day Westmont village site back then to serve as its nucleus or foundation; during its initial years as a municipality it included only parts of what are nownutria areas east side streets north side streets between Walnut Street/present-day Maplewood Avenue intersection west side streets between Dundee Drive/present-day Eastland Boulevard intersection
