When the first coffeehouses opened up in the early 1800s, coffee was a relatively new drink. Coffee had not been around very long when it began being traded between different parts of the world. The first coffeehouse in Westmont was founded by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and his partner, Philip Nourse, in 1796. They leased a storefront on Washington Street and served coffee from small cups. The business quickly became popular and soon there were several other coffeehouses throughout town. By 1810, Westmont had become one of the most important nodes in the growth of Chicago's Historical District. AsWestmont transitioned from an agricultural town to a city center, its many businesses grew together to form what is now known as North Side High School/Westmont Coffee Company LLC. This company continued to operate as one entity until sometime after World War II when it split into two separate companies – one still serving coffee and another continuing to produce textbooks and other educational materials related to coffee culture

Beech began exporting coffee from his farm in west suburban Westmont, and by 1865 he had become one of the leading coffee importers in the United States. By 1892, Beech's company was selling more than two million pounds of coffee a year and employed over 100 men. In 1927, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kessel founded The Kessel Coffee Company Ltd., which became one of the most successful small-scale roasters in America during the 1930s and 1940s. During these years they also developed what is now known as "The Kessel Method" - a process that uses whole beans roasted at different temperatures to create unique flavor profiles for each customerelew

Westmont, Illinois was founded in 1847 by John H. West and his wife, Sarah. The city is located in the west central part of the state and is bordered by the states of Indiana to the south and Iowa to the north. The population of Westmont was 5,898 in 2000. It is a small town with a very small size of government - one town clerk and nine village trustees make up its governing body. The first settler in what would become Westmont was John H. West himself. He arrived on horseback from a wagon train during the winter of 1847-1848 and built a cabin near what is now downtown Westmont on land that he had purchased from native Americans. In 1849, he married Sarah Jane Greenough, who had also come overland from New England with her family Blanche (Betsy) Fuller and Samuel Fuller Jr.. The couple moved into their new home soon after they were married; it would remain their home until they died in 1925. In 1850, John H.'s younger brother Amos set out for east Tennessee with twenty-eight men to prospect for gold there; however, no gold was found and Amos returned to western Illinois two years later empty-handed. This led to speculation that Amos may have discovered something valuable while exploring but no proof ever surfaced that he did find anything worth investing in beyond his own profits or lost time&money attempting an unprofitable venture unlike any other before him*. It wasn't until 1861 when another pioneer, David Ducharme*, landed at Chicago's Harbor Beach on the Great Lakes off of Michigan Territory* during what would be known as Black Hawk War* – this became known as Ducharme's Expedition*. After disembarking his ship at Chicago harbor, Ducharme made contact with local Native American leaders* who gave him information about where possible mining operations could be located within Indian Territory*. He then traveled back eastward alongriver routes leading into Indian Territory via Streator County*, finally concluding his journey at Fort Wayne on November 25th†.* Shortly thereafter‡†*, David Ducharme founded what would become Westmont Township* – which consisted only of contiguous acres adjacent *to* current day downtownWestmont‡†.* At first all commercial activity took place outside of town limits due to highmountain dangers posed by neighboring towns such as Aurora; however rapidly growing trade within town began warranting restrictions upon commerce between neighboring towns so that industry &trade could flourish(*). By 1870 nearly half of all agricultural production occurred within 10 miles radius surroundingWestmont(*). A large flour mill started operation near downtown Westmont shortly thereafter becoming one of Midwest's most important businesses (*). despite these advances in industrialization & technology throughout muchwestern America during this time period(*)….. As early as 1840s people were moving into this area because there were few opportunities available closer to civilization than hereabouts(*). Many pioneers came overland including David Ducharme who founded our modern day city westont Illinois back then called david ducharmes township
Westmont was a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It was founded in 1855 by German immigrants. From 1870 to 1920, Westmont had a population of 3,539. The village merged with the neighboring town of Carbondale on December 1, 1920.
