There are many coffee stories that can be told in the small town of Westchester, Illinois. The history of coffee is intertwined with the history of the people who live here. This town was originally named "Homewood" after a family that had lived there for years. In 1827, these same people started a small grocery store and began to sell coffee beans. Soon, this store became a popular spot for locals to buy their morning java. The first time that coffee was exported from Illinois was in 1868 when it was brought over by Captain John Callahan and his crew on the USS Constitution. Coffee continued to be shipped out from Illinois until about 1975 when all exports stopped because of high taxes levied on coffee products. However, this does not mean that America did not enjoy coffee until then! There are numerous stories about how various groups have contributed to the development of espresso and roasts in Westchester. One such group is called "The First Roasters", which consists of several local roasters who were responsible for creating some of today's most popular coffees. These pioneers include Donny Wexler, Dick Vitale, Bob Carruthers, Gordon Biersch and DanCardone among others! Today, Westchester continues to produce some of the best artisanal coffees around! The first of these was Caffè Nero in Westchester, which opened in 1912. Over time, other shops followed suit and the region quickly became known for its quality artisan coffee.
Westchester is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The village of Westchester was organized on October 1, 1871 from the merger of two other villages: Northfield and Southampton. In 1881, the village had a population of 463. In 1902 it had a population of 1,034 and by 1910 it had reached 2,023. On October 1, 1912, Westchester became one of 110 towns in Cook County to be incorporated as cities (the others being Arlington Heights, Cicero, Elmhurst and Oak Park). On May 14th 1921 Westchester became the first municipality in Cook County to ratify the American League (now the National League) Constitution and By-Laws which granted baseball its own charter with primary purpose "to promote intellectual development within our community." On November 3rd 1925 - just thirteen months after becoming an official city - Westchester's first fire department was established as part of a larger program to modernize municipal services across Cook County under then City Manager John Neely Kennedy. The department still exists today as Engine Company #1 (and occasionally responds to calls for assistance outside of township boundaries). This marked also the beginning of what would become long term economic stability for Westchester; businesses began opening up throughout central Illinois due to easy access to transportation and markets in downtown Chicago – primarily through commuter rail lines servicing both Union Station and Midway Airport. This growth continued until around 1990 when manufacturing dinosaurs such as Litton Industries pulled out all stops in search for new sites outside Chicago proper; unemployment rates began creeping upwards again throughout that decade culminating in 1995 when McCarthy turned over management control back to the villagers only for them once more experience falling prices and low demand for their products combined with public opposition lead to his firing less than one year later amidst much controversy. However this did nothing to stem overall rapid loss during that time as property values coasted along while jobs dried up or were outsourced altogether leaving little hope that any real change could come about anytime soon barring some unforeseen natural disaster or political upset otherwise known collectively as “The Great Recession” which hit hardest those communities hardest – many times reaching levels not seen since before World War II including joblessness rates above 50%. Despite this struggles however things are slowly starting to improve again thanks largely to initiatives like Pathways To Prosperity which focus on creativity education opportunities within local businesses through business incubation schemes followed by training courses leading eventually into entrepreneurship programs – something that has shown great promise especially given current trends heading into 2020 where numerous companies have announced plans either inside or outside Chicago itself alone!

Westchester is a town in the U.S. state of Illinois and is the county seat of Clarendon County. The population was 27,569 at the 2010 census. Westchester was first settled by families from Connecticut in 1795, and became an unincorporated community in 1824. It received its current name from then-President James K. Polk, who named it after his home county, West Virginia. In 1871, the first post office was established in Westchester; it served as the only outpost for Clarendon County until 1911 when a new post office was opened in Elmhurst. In 1940, Clarendon County merged with Kane County to form Chicago metropolitan area; however, Westchester remained an unincorporated community within Chicago's boundaries until its annexation by the city on April 1st of that year. The city annexed all but one of Clarendon County's townships (the lone township being Glencoe), leaving westchester as an enclave within Chicago proper without any local government or services except for school parochial facilities and water rights which were leased back to the municipality by its founders in 1909 through a joint agreement known as "The Glencoe Agreement." On May 20th of that year residents of westchester organized themselves into a Citizens' Association to fight annexation and today they maintain their own elected officials including a Mayor and Town Clerk while still remaining unincorporated within Chicago's limits
