Warrenville is a town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,868 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first permanent European settlers in what is now Warrenville were three brothers who came from Vermont in 1813 and named their new land "Iowa." They established a log cabin on the bank of the Des Plaines River and began to grow corn, beans, and other vegetables. In 1824, they married two sisters from New England and started to build a Methodist church on their farmstead. In 1830 they had six children, all boys; but soon one of them died after being born prematurely. The others became farmers too, but by 1838 they had built another farmhouse which served as the town hall until it burned down in 1892. By then there were only about 100 people living in Warrenville. In 1846 when Illinois became a state, Warrenville was included within Cook County as well as with other counties within Illinois’ newly organized system of government. At that time there were just twelve settlements within Cook County: Racine (now Milwaukee), Galesburg (now Peoria), Rockford (now Winnetka), Bloomington (nowNormal), Dixon (now Elgin), Danbury (then Hartford), Seymour (then Joliet), La Salle (then Lisle) & White Sox Park on the south side of Chicago – all located east of State Street between Randolph Road and Cicero Avenue – making it one of the few towns outside Chicago where white people had populated continuously since before English settlement began hereabouts in 1681 A.[1] When white men started arriving hereabouts more frequently during the late 1800s various transportation improvements led to increased population density due both to increasing gold discoveries throughout central America as well as sections becoming available for farming following railroads reaching these areas[2]. The coming together of these factors along with natural growth caused Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Showgrounds near present day Union Station to open up new business opportunities for this largely agricultural township[3]. This period also saw some significant changes within society including women achieving voting rights while families got larger; however many residents still acted primarily around agriculture or ranching activities[4][5][6]. The first post office opened at Warrenville on January 1st 1865[7], followed by phone service on February 17th 1865[8], steamboats bringing goods into downtownChicago starting October 5th 1865,[9] electric streetlights installed November 3rd 1865,[10][11] school opening September 12th 1870,[12],[13],[14]; large barns being built such as “The Western Barn” having multiple stories(no longer extant)[15]), births taking place at home like today with places like Mount Carmel Hospital being founded February 1st 1893 thereby electing its first female doctor Dr Alice Hesseltine Halsey who later served concurrently from 1915-1917nesters James Newton HowardWinston Churchillanda Evelyn Balfourd among others answered courthouse warrants during World War I

In 1827, the Illinois Legislature moved the capital from Vandalia to Springfield, and Warrenville became part of that city. The population of Warrenville peaked at 10,000 in 1870, but it declined steadily over the next few decades. In 1900, however, the population reached 20,000 again. By 1950, however, it had decreased to 10,000 again. The town experienced a rapid growth during the 1960s and 1970s as businesses began to open up and new residents arrived. However, by 1980 or so the population had once again stalled out at 1000 residents. During this time period an effort was made to revitalize the town with a number of projects such as building new schools and creating more jobs for locals. However, these efforts did not go very far because no one wanted to live in a small town with no hope of advancement or future development.
