Warrenville is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,752 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Chicago metropolitan area. The first coffee shop in Warrenville opened in 1922 on State Street. In 1927, Warrenvillette's first post office opened and served as the town's only source of mail until 1974 when USPS moved to its current location on Elmwood Avenue. In 1951, the Village of Warrenville adopted a liquor license and began selling retail wine and beer beginning June 1st of each year. The village limits sales to residents within their respective boundaries which were later changed to include businesses located east of State Street between Randolph Road and Sheridan Rd., north of Lemont Road between Humboldt Boulevard and Cicero Avenue, west of Orchard Road between Highway 61 and I-55 (the "border") In 1978, the Village voted to annex portions of neighboring Glencoe into Warrenville; this annexation created a new municipality with a population over 10,000 people known as Deerfield Township.
Warrenville is a small town in J.D. Payne County, Illinois, United States. The population was 599 at the 2010 census. The first settler in Warrenville was Ezekiel Thomas in 1859. The town was platted in 1867 by John Hickey and named for George Warren, an early settler of the area. In 1896, the village of Warrenville merged with nearby Decatur to form what is now J.D. Payne County.[1] The present-day town of Warrenville was founded on May 20, 1907 by James Murchison and others as a result of the Kansas–Nebraska Act which granted statehood to Illinois on November 4, 1907.[2][3][4] On July 1st of that year, the people of Warrenville voted to make themselves a municipality.[5] The following year saw rapid growth due to agricultural production and new industry established in the surrounding townships including Chicago Heights (now Danzig), North Side (now Park Ridge),[6] and East Side (now Villa Park).[7] By 1912 there were over 100 residents living in Warrenville alone,[8] with more arriving every day as railroads arrived and transportation became available more cheaply than ever before. In 1916, when Illinois lost its entry into World War I,[9][10][11] population growth slowed but did not stop; by 1920 it had reached 693 inhabitants although only about 50% lived within the limits of the town proper due to zoning restrictions placed upon it by its neighbors DuPage[12][13], Chicago Heights[14], North Side[15], and East Side[16]. Growth resumed after World War II until 1960 when census figures showed just under 1,000 residents living within city limits without any core governing body or services:[17][18]. With this change however came increased economic opportunities due to suburbanization and development outside of city boundaries; today's population has ballooned past 2,500 according to 2010 estimates makingWarrenville one of IL's fastest-growing communities since 2000! The town was named after General Andrew Johnson, who had been the first U.S. president to be impeached. In 1827, Warrenville became the site of the first free public school in Illinois. The town's population peaked at over 10,000 in 1920 but has since declined steadily. Today, Warrenville is a small community with a population of under 1,000 people and an economy that primarily depends on agricultural activities such as farming, fishing, and forestry. The history of Warrenville can be traced back to 1809 when Captain James K. Polk and his brother Commodore John Quincy Adams Polk land grantee developed the area now known as Warrenville into a Township in Kane County for their own exclusive use. The original townsite consisted of only two dwellings: an old sawmill (now a museum) on the east side of Iowa Street and a log cabin (now occupied by the Adair Museum) on the west side of Iowa Street. Captain Polk's donation of land for multiple schools in what is now Kane County was one of many gestures he made to promote education among Native American groups he encountered during his travels throughout Illinois during this time period including visits to Moultrie Creek Indian Reservation and Cass Lake Indian Reservation near Chicago which he called "the most fertile ground I have ever seen." In 1827, when Wm Hennessee donated land south of present day downtown Warrenville for a new public school district which would eventually become Cook County School District No., 3rd Ward; it was through Mr Hennessee's donation that local citizens were able to access quality education for their children from earliest childhood until college level without having to leave their homes or take up other forms of employment outside their communities- something that had previously been unavailable to most residents within those areas due to geographic limitations or lack thereof. After Wm Hennessee's gift came about nine additional private donations totaling $5,500 which directed towards improving school facilities within Cook County School District #3rd Ward; makingWarrenville one stop for all parents looking for quality educational opportunities not just within Cook County but also located adjacent counties such as La Salle (in addition Cook), Will & Woodford (in addition DuPage), Chatham (in addition Kane), Macoupin (in addition Keokuk), Linn & Winnebago Counties etc….. This growing trend continued with successive gifts totaling an additional $30 thousand over thirty years culminating with Mr Frank Jovanovichs'$165 thousand gift in 1963 makingWarrenville one hundred years old! This long history reflects both proud moments as well as hardships faced by locals during various stages throughout its life cycle; some examples include being annexed by Chicago following World War II followed by decades-longeconomic downturns followed by recent expansions in enrollment at public schools districts across Cook County causing much concern among educators statewide leading up to Superintendent Joel Klein’s recent decision reopening districts citing “a current need” particularly given increased student populations residing within city limits . Regardless though local concerns regarding future growth potential should any decisions be made related To open enrollment status; numerous articles have appeared addressing how central location has actually ledto increased economic development opportunities especially around downtown business corridor/downtown apartment complex developments etc…. today still remains largely rural poverty stricken neighborhoods despite overwhelming presence of Downtown businesses along zip code 60515
