The history of the Army in Villa Park, Illinois goes back to 1861. When the United States became a nation, a new army was organized and was called the Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The regiment was recruited from people throughout Illinois and Indiana. It numbered only fifty men when it first enlisted, but by 1862 it had grown to two hundred men and was stationed at Fort Dearborn. In 1864, the regiment moved to Nashville, Tennessee and served in the Union army during the American Civil War. In 1865, after the war ended, the unit returned home to Villa Park. The Army continued to live in Villa Park until 1902 when it moved again - this time to Fort Sheridan near Chicago. Villa Park is a small town in Cook County, Illinois, United States. It is located on the east side of Chicago and has a population of about 5,000 people. The town was founded in 1872 by graziers who bought two hundred acres (120 hectares) of woods and meadows near the then-new Village of Villa to create a new community. The first settlers were farmers, but within five years the town had become an important agricultural center with cattle, pigs, wheat and other crops. A post office was established in 1875 and soon became known for its excellent mail service. In 1902 the village section of Villa Park was incorporated as a separate municipality. The originalVillage of Villa Park consisted of just a few buildings--a schoolhouse, jail, store and mill--and it took until 1922 for the population to reach 1,500 residents. By that time there were also several businesses in the area: banks (J & L Bank), groceries (Foster's grocery store), radio stations (KQED-AM/FM) and movie theaters (the Pullman P&O Theatre). The early industries closed down during World War II; however, after the war new businesses emerged including auto parts stores (Alfreds auto parts), real estate services (Garland Realtors) and aviation equipment manufacturers Douglas Aircraft Corporation and North American Aviation Incorporated. During most of the 20th century Villas park grew rapidly thanks to two factors: high demand for housing elsewhere in Cook County due to growth in industry and population west of Lake Michigan caused by suburban development around Urbana-Champaign Airport. However from 2020 onwards much Villafaik growth will come fromdensity induced migration from southwesterly suburbs into north central Illinois which will reduce access to farmland for farming

When the first Europeans arrived in what is now Illinois, they were greeted by a great natural resources area. The area was full of trees and other plants that could provide them with food and shelter. The land had been undeveloped for many years before the arrival of the Europeans, so there was plenty of room to grow crops and build homes. The first European settlers in what is now Villa Park began to arrive in the early 1800s. They were attracted to the fertile soil, good access to water supplies, and easy access to transportation. By 1838, some of these settlers had built homes and started a small business. In 1847, some more settlers arrived in what is now Villa Park from Michigan. This group built a home on an existing lot that became known as “Villa Park Manor”. This home still stands today and can be visited from time to time. By 1865, most of the original European settlers had left Villa Park for better opportunities elsewhere in Illinois or Michigan. However, a few families remained behind to continue building homes and businesses over the next several decades. In 1935, Villa Park was officially incorporated as a town by local authorities under the name “Villa Park Township”. Since then, Villa Park has experienced many changes both positive and negative. Some of these changes include: growing population; construction of large housing developments; growth in industry; decline in population; introduction of new technologies; etcetera (see below).

On January 1, 1951, Villa Park became an official city with its own government and police force.
