The first small batch coffeehouses were opened in the 1800s, and today there are dozens of small batch coffeehouses throughout the city. The history of small batch coffee can be traced back to 1825 when Nicholas Biddle opened his first Java Coffee House in Urbana. In 1892, John Fenton founded the Koffee Klatch Club, which served as the prototype for modern day smallbatch coffee houses. Today, Koffee Klatch continues to serve as an important institution within the community of Urbana. Small batches of coffee have been a key component of many local businesses and organizations over the years. In 2003, Mayor Tom Barrett established the Urbana SmallBatch Coffee Association to help promote and preserve this unique tradition inUrbana. In 1824, a small coffee shop was opened in the heart of London. It was called The Coffee House and its founders were two Italian immigrants, Giovanni and Niccolò Boccaccio. They started serving coffee drinks together and selling newspapers from the door. Over time, they gained a following among the educated elite and eventually began to produce their own roasted beans. In 1852, they moved to Belgravia Street in London's West End and continued to serve high-quality coffee until their closure in 1955.

Urbana, Illinois is a city in the U.S. state of Illinois and the county seat for Champaign County. The population was 17,871 at the 2010 census. It is the third-largest city in Illinois, after Chicago and Springfield. Urbana is also one of two cities in Champaign County that are both home to four universities: Northwestern University, UIUC (UCLA), USC/Los Angeles Valley College, and DePaul University. The first European settlement in what is now Urbana was made by Captain George Rogers Clark on July 6, 1809 as part of his exploratory survey of what would become Illinois. He named the site "Checagou" after a Choctaw village in Alabama which he had visited earlier that year while exploring the area between Lake Michigan and Missouri River. Clark's party arrived at Checagou on July 9 and remained there until returning to civilization on July 12; they left behind an observation tower known as Mount Rogers which still stands today near downtown Urbana. A post office was established at Checagou on September 3, 1817, and remained operational until it was discontinued in 1865 due to changes in postal service regulations. It wasn't until late 19th century that some activity began around Urbana with members of The First Methodist Episcopal Church being organized there on October 15, 1892 from a group meeting held at Loyola Chapel east of town early that morning under Reverend James Aitken (1814-1900). That same day new streets were laid out within what are now downtown Urbana including State Street which runs north-south through central Urbana before turning westward towards O'Hare International Airport just south of town limits; this street has since been renamed Pavilion Drive following plans by then Mayor Richard Mapplethorpe to create a mixed use development known as The Pavilion located along much of its length inside or adjacent to old City Hall Park Precinct - all within city limits since that time! In 1895 Ignatius Donnelly founded Northern Trust Company - one such early giant among America's largest commercial banks - from his garage located just east of town center across from Wabash Avenue train station; not only did Northern Trust make important contributions duringUrbane's formative decades but it remains one of only a few companies remaining headquartered throughout downtown today thanks largely to its continued leadership role withinChicago Community Banks coalition formed back in 2011 when many large commercial banks acquired their former colleagues!
